Do you want ACD and AYC on your Evo?
I definitely like to have ACD type system on my car..for trial purposes at least. as for the AYC...had one...... broke one.....replaced one....and then finally just removed one...Never want one....(AYC)
AYC sux big donkey cohones.
Lets kill the AYC. Cosidering all the people that have replaced the system with the RS rear, or has enabled it with the Cusco diff, or just unplugging it and running with an open diff, this tells me how horrible this system is. Dont get me wrong, great system for the average road slow to moderate driving individual, but as soon as the car starts sliding, GOOD LUCK! The AYC will kick in, it tends to react quicker than your own correction, and the next thing is you end up kissing a light pole or huging a tree. If you got it, GET RID OF IT! If you havent yet bought your evo, dont get one with the AYC.

Scrapped it, junked it, tried selling it, ended up giving to a friend who will attempt to do something with it. I reccommend doing something like what the anti abortion activists do in their campaign, instead of sending pictures of dead fetuses to abortion clinics and government agencies, send pictures of crashed evos and people that have injured themselves because of the f**kin AYC to Mitsu Corporate beggin to stop putting this system on their cars.
I went the least expensive route, well second to least considering the fact that just unplugging it is really cheap
although I dont reccommend anyone running an open diff. (better off having the AYC functional), I decided to get the Cusco rear LSD, which doesnt replace the AYC, but basically renders its powers. WOW, what a difference! I re-discovered my car. No more uncontrolable spins at the track, no more guessing where you'll end up when the car starts to oversteer, the car is more responsive, will obey your command, which is what driving is all about.
The better, yet more expensive route is to replace the entire rear with the RS rear. If you do this, remember what I said, the whole rear (shafts, support, etc.). Then you can go ahead and add all the Cusco LSDs for the diffs, front, rear, etc. Together with the right suspension set up and tires, wow, there's no stopping it. Will hurt your pockets, extensively!

Any of you driven an ACD equipped car though? Just wondering what your impressions of that system are. They all seem to be extremely positive but you don't see too many comparisons between 2 Evo's; one with and the other without. I see all these comparisons between an Evo VII with full active diffs and a current Sti and the Evo seems to ALWAYS out-perform the Sti and they all make it seem as if alot of that success is due to the ACD, but who knows. I would really like to test drive 2 identical Evo's back to back, with and without ACD.
Does anyone have a technical manual on what the ACD system consists of? A RS models system would be best comparison. Is it just the new diff/transfer case, control unit, and sensors at the wheels? It might be possible to purchase and retrofit a system onto a USDM Evo. I would like to see how pheasable that might be.
Here, Here I second that. Does anyone (Cusco etc.) make a center diff for the car? We really need to start looking for options at this point

You will have to be careful here, since a good and strong center diff (locking wise) will make your car to push more than the one with a loose center diff. If you have a most interest in the straight line acceleration, than more locking is the way to go. Most of the hard core drag racers even weld the viscous coupler and make it 50:50 all the time.
The problem is that when you trying to turn with a more locking diff in the center, extra power at the front will make your car to push.
I guess, make sure that you want what you are looking for here!

Hmmm....I would have liked to seen the ACD in the car, but having never driven a car with one in it I wouldn't know what I am missing. My Talon has open diffs front and rear, so I end up with right side drive which is a b%tch in the snow going up hill. Regardless, I'd rather have the 6spd gear box as I know from experience that the DSM gear box is crap. Hope the EVO box is better and smoother.

Not giving ACD is a dumb decision even too hard to believe at this point.

I was predicting that mitsubishi didn't want to take the chance and loose market to subaru? I am wrong apparently. I dont' know who's making these decision for mitsubishi but they need to hire people on this forum to help them to see what we want. Subaru on the other hand gave the U.S. more than the JDM
I've seen it coming why can't you? Now i'm just asking for a dealer install limited front diff option "warrentee covered". "Can you at least give me this? ". If we can out handle the sti by far with the front LSD there would me more reason for magazine say STI is more powerful but evo handle better. This way it's par. THoughts?
