Another spec info...
Another EVO spec info...
Here is an info that came from another friend of mine who owns Diamond Star Specialties (DSS). Enjoy!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just got this 2 min ago, from a tech that went to the
Mitsubishi class getting them ready for the Evo 8.
FMIC w/ water sprayer
Recarro seats
Brembo brakes
Rear diff is viscous
Center diff is in transfer case and is also viscous
Front diff (paperwork is a misprint and talks about the F
diff being in the T-case) so no info.
271hp 273 tq
1 version, only options will be sunroof, and an optional
down sizing of the carbon fiber rear spoiler to the OZ
one.
Under 30K (what ever that means) probably $29,999.99
Only 5K first year.
6 colors
27mpg highway
Sport ABS with EBD/traction control (electronic Brake
Distribution)
Inverted front struts (forgot to ask about the rear)
235/45/zr 17 17x8 wheels Yoko tires ~10,000 miles life
Synthetic oil only
Must have “evo certified” tech work on it or it voids the
warrantee
8.8-1 compression 16G twin scroll
5 speed with short shifter
Triple syncro 1,2 gear
Double 3,R
Single 4,5
Hollow cams and Mag Valve cover.
Etc.
I have a picture of the front of the car. But I am not
supposed to copy it, so I won’t. It is more aggressive
than the 7.
The count down on the Mitsubishi site is for debut at the
LA auto show.

now, a viscous diff is not as good a s a mechanical diff, correct?
also, whats with the certified evo technician? wasnt that why they wanted no acd/ayc??
mr. awd, thx for the info, i wont hound you for the picture as i realize you were not sent it by mr. croutcher... but if you contact him, ask him if it resembles the pictures seen here.

I've always had teh bend end when it came to buying a car.... regardless of how teh car comes, it will be enjoyabl regardless, even tho the tactics of surprising the customers is soo over rated. People dont like to wait and see what shows up, we always have our options. Hell the damn new SRT-4 is fkin faast stock.... but thats in a lower and dif class. People that are kind of short in the pocket, will have to wait longer because you know for a fact the highest bidder will get the car... its been like that for ever. Which dealership is not going to take an oppurtunity to make a couple extra g's, people are greedy and dont understand its gouging(or however you spell it), but the amrket works odd. Show the money and they will kiss your ***. I paid 4k over for my 2000 ITR.... and then alter down the road... they were at cost..so u never know
Well it depends on what kind of diff they use. Its more common to see a viscous coupling differential lock and a plain jane viscous differential in a rally car.
Check out the differences here:
I think alot of people were thinking the old evos all had mechanical LSDs... which I thought Audi was the only manufacturer that really uses those... torsens are expensive and heavy... and never work very well in an active differential setting.
I think we're going to see a viscous coupling differential lock type LSD... at least we better... a regular VCD is what they throw in Volvos... sucks *** IMO.
I can tell you though... the torsen in my S4 sure is fine as wine for navigating this blizzard we had in Ohio (ok we had two inches around here...).

MY brother has an S4, and I'm trying to tell this person that its soo not worth it to try and attempt to get BOV's instead of diverter valves.... sorry, im Mr. OffTopic man...
But I'm guessing manufcatures chose certain types of differentials for the followinge examples:
1. Life expectancy(warrenties for drivetrain??)
2. How much
3. How do different difs contribute to different ride attitudes..i.e.:Luxury S4's, or or more harsher for a more touring affect.
4. Would mitsu want to get ready for young kids brining in "faulty" difs because they made them cheap, or aggressive?

for "under $30k", this sounds pretty good to me. 271hp and 273 lb ft of torque!!! As long as the gear ratios are pretty decent it should be good at everything (including hauling my kids).

DSS Mike is the one who has it and I will see if I can get something out of him. Stay tuned!
