I second that NISMO, Driving is all about experience, and the older you get the better you get, hence the reason insurance goes down 25, cause your supposed to be a "better" driver.

Ah, I find it refreshing to see older people driving the modern Japanese supercars. It's something you don't see too often and it's always cool. Besides, how many older guys do ya see driving Z06's? They're a dime a dozen, I tell you! It's the midlife-crisis car of choice . DEFINITELY go for the Evo, and NO, you're not too old to have the stock wing either, nor is anybody else!

Well, I think everyone here has shown it doesn't matter how old you are, just get what YOU like and what YOU want. Also, what occupation are you concerned about this car being too flashy for? And remember: if you settle for something you don't really want, then you'll always regret you didn't get all the carbon fiber goodness you could have.

yup yup if you got the oz wing and i pull up next to you with a carbon fiber wing you gonna say to yourself i could had that.............................................. ................................

and then the thought "trade in" and you not gonna love your car as much as you would then you gonna dog the car and not treating it right soon major repair will come and money down the drain..............................

Now this is what I want to see. Older people driving this car too. I don't want this car stereotyped to young kid ricers, aa, I mean racers. This car is not for it's status or image but rather, this car is for the pure driving enthusiast to enjoy. Hell, if I was 78 I'd still want one, only by that time I'd be hoping they still have that GT-A model kicking around.

I say age doesn't matter. Go for it!

EDIT: And you know you want the huge wing too.

key word, "better" . I've only started driving a couple of months ago (a '94 Mazda MPV Minivan baby!) and I have already met up with some of the worst and reckless drivers. I'm not saying i'm the greatest driver, but man, some people have a lot of nerve doing some of the things they do. It mostly boils down to experience AND responsibility.

And about being 47 and getting the EVO, I say go for it! You can never be too old for doing the things you love.

Let people say what they want, I'm sure you've dealt with the whole midlife crisis issue people want to pin on you just because you like to drive sports cars. The EVO will probably be perceived as a kid's car by those who don't understand, and those same people will probably ask you what your doing driving your son's car. But once it takes over mainstream America's perception of sports car, it'll be back to midlife crisis again.

What are you gonna do? Buy an SUV? A light blue Buick or Cadillac?

Get the Evolution and never look back.

Just promise us you'll be spooling turbo half the time. It annoys me here, in the Silicon Valley, to see guy's in their 50's driving their 360 Modena's down Highway 101 in the slow lane at 50 mph. Its ok in the streets but not in the highway where everyone goes at least 65 mph.

Go ahead and buy one, then to rub it in, get a license plate that says "I'm 47"

I really want to thank all you folks for the kind words and encouragement about getting this car at my age. I am very much a performance car enthusiast and I love everything the Evo stands for.

My deposit remains and I look forward to getting the car (I may opt for the mild spoiler though)

Also, I must say that this forum is among the most helpful and enjoyable forums that I have ever seen. People on this forum are helpful, give honest advice and there is very little flaming to those with differing opinions.

Cheers to you all and thanks
