I'm 28... and thinking of ditching the evo for the reason
you're worrying about...
As much as I believe that age doesn't matter... I hate to
pull up in an car that every other 16 years old drives...
I kinda think that evo will soon to be the choice of ricers
(no disrespect for true enthusiast on this forum) especially
after the movie "fast & furious 2"..
I also expect the insurance premium to be sky high... expecting
10% of EVO to be involved in accidents by young teens who think
they are invincible in a AWD...
On top of that.. we're not getting the full spec EVO... to me, the
EVO we're getting is a 4 door version of the gen 2 eclipse GSX??
(any major difference between the two??)
Anyways.. I'm still deciding whether I should get one or not...

I'm 30, and I feel old on this forum, but I don't think we have to worry about teens driving an Evo next to ours. How many teens out there can afford a $30K+ car and insurance all by themselves? Sure, there are the rich spoiled ones that can get anything they want, and maybe there are a few that actually have well-paying jobs already, but I bet you'll see very few teens driving the Evo. It's more likely they'll be in a used Civic, Sentra, Celica, Sunfire, or maybe a new Neon SRT-4 at best. The Evo is way above those in terms of cost to own and operate.

i'm 47 too! my 2000 eclipse gt has 41k, and that's like a 41k race. and it's still running great, except for a few wheels replaced after traction testing. whoops. the saying goes: you always grow older, but you can remain immature forever.

Kudos to you! My Dad is 52 and rides a Harley-Davidson and drives a matching F-150 H-D Edition, compared to my friend's parents who all drive boring sedans or lame suv's. I think it's never too late for such a car. I'll bet that only a small percentage of Evo's will go to the younger guys, while most of them will end up in the hands of older, wiser, and more responsible folks. You'll fit right in!

Thanks again guys for the vote of confidence. I definitely still have the adrenalin and the drive for it (no pun intended). Heck I drive a BMW M Coupe (the shoe car). With 315 HP that baby moves!
I have always loved high performance cars and I guess I always will.
Now let's see this thing in person already
And please don't be 3300 lbs!
