Are we getting a GT-A with a 5-speed in US?

I was going over those specs that we have here for a few days and what it looks like to me is that GT-A has the same engine specs as those posted over the forum. They are listed as 272 PS and 35 kg-m, which falls right into what we got so far for the EVO 8.

Basically, it looks like we are getting an GT-A engine in US EVO 8 that will have EVO VII 5 speed or INVECS II, to satisfied both camps.

Also, from looking at the video that is out from the http://www.evoclub.net]Nirburgring[/URL], car looks softer than the EVO 7 (suspension wise), which leads me to believe that we are getting GT-A suspension as well.

Also, they where saying that turbo lag is lower, which could be due to the smaller turbo. At the same time GT-A has 9.0cm2 nozzle area vs. 9.8 cm2 that EVO 7 has and 65 mm compressor wheel diameter vs. 68 mm which EVO 7 has.

Hmm, I am starting not to like this conspiracy theory...

You be your own judge!

Nope we're not getting the GTA. We are getting the bigger turbo. I was told what we are getting falls between the Evo VIII RS and GSR.

Hmm, then how we are going to use the 5 speed trainy here, when this is an ultra short one meant for the JDM RS only? That one would be even worse than what EVO 7 has right now. Considering how much we drive over 70 mph on the highways, that would not work!

And, do you know why we are going to have much less power and torque, if we are getting the same size trubo? The numbers look so similar to the GT-A numbers...

The lost horsepower was to meet US emissions/fuel requirements. It will easily be made up
I had the same question and asked specifically if we were getting the GTA turbo. I was told no and that I'd be happy with the turbo we're getting.

What worries me about that is that when the car is tuned very well, it is the most efficient and has the least amount of the bad emissions. From that one, puling the timing in the ECU wouldn't be a good idea, since emissions would be worse too!

As of the making up those lost ponies, I have no worries. What worries me is the stock setup, which I can't change under the racing rules if you want to stay in the stock classes.

It's not until the u-tech has solved the timing pulling problem. Does your 2g eclipse/talon ecu pull timing?

That really depends on which chip I have in there.
In general, if stock ECU sees more than 4 degree of knock, it pulls the timing back untill the knock stops. Also, if engine is too cold or too hot, it pulls one degree of the overal timing as well.

BTW, what is a U-TECH?

Didn't Japanese emissions tighten up too? Don't these new hp/torque figures reflect the JDM Evo 8 output too? the 276/280 barrier probably won't be surpassed by this new "green" 4G63. But if they increase output next year we will know the true capability of it.
