Not sure if what I want exists...

I'm lookin for an electronic device that has several combined into 1.

I want something that will work as an EMS with customizable maps, but also has the ability to monitor boost level, a/f, and temerature. It would also be nice if it was able to keep track of speed RPM and tell you what your acceleration rate and 1/4 mile speed was. Then to top it all off it it served as a radar detector and turbo timer that would be great.

I'm sick of having to have 30 different devices in my car. Is there someone who combines this stuff into 1 or 2 units??

dont think so....ive never heard of anything that could provide all those functions

you need an XEDE, Valentine radar, any TT or viper alarm, and that new gtech thing thats supposed to be very accurate

thats only 4

I was thinkin of gettin the passport for the acceleration functions then a TT for the turbo then an Xede or utec for EMS then HKS camp or other digital display monitoring system add all that to my radar detector and my car might as well be an electronics store...

Does the AEM EMS have something that actually measures boost A/F and ETG temp? Also I didn't know it was capable of telling you your accelertion rate or 1/4 mile either...

no the AEM does not do acceleration or 1/4 miles time, but a 139 Gtech can, and is plugand play so it doesnt have to stay in the car forever. Get the AEM, you will be happy and have room to grow

I'm sure the indevidual devices do what they were meant to do well and I'm not really comparing one to another in this thread I was just wondering if any company made anything to combine the 7-8 different electronic devises used by so many people into 1 unit.

AEM doesn't do everything I want its just an engine management chip a very good one yes but it doesn't tell me acceleration times it doesn't monitor ETG it doesn't have a radar detector and I'm not sure it even has an integrated turbo timer.

a chip huh? man its a whole ECU!! if you want to hide stuff do something like this, put your turbo timer in the clock position, buy you a small 52mm guage pod, either the one above the steeringwheel or craig hardy's pod, get an EGT guage, fit a gtech in there, and get a radar detector mounted in the guage cluster where it is taken apart and not even visible.

You'll need a lap top, AEM, screen and an escort passport as stated above.

ECU+ will do all of your mapping, logging, and monitoring except for the EGT part, but you won't really need that if you log everything and use a wideband O2 sensor (which the ECU+ also supports). It also measures 0-60 speeds, quarter mile times, and has a virtual dyno that is pretty damn acurate.

I'd also get a built in turbo timer, if space is a concern and you don't want your interior cluttered with gadgets.

For the radar detector, I would go with an Escort Solo 2. It's wireless, and VERY sensitive with the whole VG-2 Guard and SWS warnings.

Yea if I have to get everything separate I know there are ways of making it look better. It would just be really nice if you could get all these things in something that would fit in a single din with a nice display on it have everything covered in 1 product instead of going all over the place rounding up parts and places to install them all etc...

best case senario to accomplish everything I want is:

AEM - takes care of all engine management stuff
Turbo timer
Passport - to monitor acceleration speed
full guage pannel to monitor oil temp boost ETG
Radar detector

so basically I have to have all 5 of these units and there is nothing to combine them

Edit: someone mentioned the AEM measures 0-60 and quarter mile times? that would eliminate the passport. Also I know you can set it to a boost amount but does it have an independant way of measureing boost, a/f and temperature other than trusting the way its "suposed" to be set at?

Honestly, AEM and every other full standalone is an overkill for 90% of the people on this forum.

The ECU+ mounts right next to your ECU, so it is out of the way and not even seen once installed. You can graph everything on a Laptop or a Palm Pilot, but even this is not necessary unless you want the pretty readouts and speed/power measuring features.

It's also about half the price of the AEM unit and just as plug-and-playable. It will handle everything you want to do minus the radar detection functions and the turbo timer.

The built in turbo timer's switch can be hidden along with the "brain" portion of it, so that will be out of the way as well. If you put all three of the components in that I listed, you will be covered, and the only thing that will be visible at all will be the radar detector.

Call Dan at Mach V and ask him about the ECU+. I'm telling you, it is worth ten times it's weight in gold.

aem does monitor everything, but the catch is you must buy the sensors. it takes a wide band o2 sensor (you get to pick which kind, get the one that is bundled with the zeitronix and you'd have the widest possible reading range). it can read boost, but once again you need to get a 3.5 or 5 bar boost sensor. it will tell you through logs how fast you've accelerated, what your quarter mile should be (requires a lil math on your part, david buschur has done this in posts before) it pretty much does everything. you just need to get the complimentary equiptment, and yes... it has a tt function also.
