funny thing happened at the dealer

This happened at the Mitsubishi dealer in Taiwan.
I was at the dealer because everytime I siwtched gears from 1st to 2nd it kinda made a squeeky noise. Anyways I talked to the service manager and asked him that if it was true that if I didnt get my oil change at the dealer my warranty would be voided and he said that is true. No doubt about it. He even told me hes been working for Toyota for the last 10 years and its the same with them. Doesnt matter if you use the identical Mobile 1 oil which was suppose to be specific for the EVo it still would be voided. Now here is the funny thing. Then I asked if it was ok to put a exhaust on the car and he said that is fine. I was quite shocked when I heard this. Since he said it was ok for the exhaust I then asked what about the air filter. He told me he would have to double check on that but also told me to look at my owners manual to see what it says. The owners manual is translated in Chinese so I dont know if there really is a section on what you can and cant do to the car to void the warranty. He told me not to touch the car because its already so fast, I was like yea ok whatevers! Does the manual say anything about voiding the warranty if you were to change after market parts?

Anything past the cat is fair game.

Standard recommended air filter itself won't void your warranty.

I think it's rare to find a dealership that will actually void your warranty for changing the oil somewhere else with Mobil 1. Not using Mobil 1 synthetic, is another story.

if you use the proper equipment i wouldnt see a problem. My dad has worked for Mistubishi and Toyota for the last 10 years. Now, if you do take it somewhere and they put the wrong oil or filter, or do anything that might cause damage to the car, then i could see a reason to void the warranty. Lets just hope that simple oil change is easy enough for people.

what that dealer told you about the oil is bull****. places like jiffy lube and such can change your oil under warrenty and it will be fine... not that I would take my evo or any car to jiffy lube but if you wanted to you could.

First off all how fast are these benz? Most of them are non AMG, its not like the US. Yes I picked up some chinese but not enough to read a god dam manual I may know some characters but its hard to understand the meaning of the sentence. Basic easy reading is fine but thats about it. BTW I just started a few months back so leave me alone

We all know dealers can spew out a bunch of BS. Take everything they say w/ a grain of salt, pepper, and some hot sauce.

not sure about over there but in the US, they cant void your warranty for not changing you oil there unless they offer you oil changes for free!!! the is some law about voiding warrantys and it covers that, it starts with an M

what he said^, there's no way you're forced to service your own car at the dealer, just save all the receipts so you prove to them that it's been done

Yes, exactly. Some repair/maintenance shops even post signs about this act so that the customer is aware that dealerships CANNOT void their warranties by having their own techs do maintenance.
