Actually, I think many people do play Gran Turismo. I know a hell of a lot of people under 30 years old who play the game and can afford hella expensive cars (rich asses).

I've definitely been known for obsessing over GT (all 3 at various stages in life) and I can easily afford one and will be buying one. Though honestly, I've always been interested in rallying and don't count the game as being why I want an Evo (or how I was first introduced to it), though it certainly didn't hurt.

I've played Gran Turismo since the first one came out. Love it. Waiting eagerly for 4 (yeah online play!) Oh, and I can afford an Evo. Hell, I've already got both a WRX and an M3.

If you don't believe me here's a direct quote from Road & Track:

"We have seen the Mitsubishi Lancer dice through tree-lined forests in World Rally Championship and SCCA ProRally events (and also experienced the car's virtual quickness in the addictive Sony PlayStation2 Gran Turismo game)."

First it was Gran Turismo for me. Then came the Best Motoring videos. And now I'll be driving the "real" thing!

I believe you and I've seen it myself. I just couldn't find a little face thingy for sarcasm to put beside my post.

I'm not saying it's a shame, but I'm just surprised that a PS2 game could have shoved Mitsu towards giving us what we wanted

Am I the only one who found out about the Evo after learning about the 'G63 engine from the 1G/2G Eclipses? The turbo Scoobies on the other hand, all GT there.

the GT series was ONE of the major reasons i got into jpa cars.though i'm an asian...i used to prefer continental(sp?) cars...eg:non-asian cars

hey pjal84,i've juz recently seen a jaguar advertisement on tv.and they were advertising the new jaguar S-type....and they advertised proudly tht it packs 400ponies....i'm juz confused...it's not the type R. they juz advertised it as the 'new S-type"... so what's with tht? r the new s-type sedans gonna pack 400hp? if tht's so.isnt tht alot for a family luxury sedan?

Haven't seen an ad but I'm curious now. Probably just using the S-Type branding as a lure and then people realizing at the showroom to get the 400 HP, you're paying a lot more for a special machine. Or by simply saying new S-Type, they're making some commotion. As for the power, I'd wager a guess it's the same engine as the Mustang SVT Cobra but I'm not sure.

Get back on topic, or risk getting your posts deleted... lol.

I'm just kidding, but, I couldn't resist.

Serious, though, I think that GT3 probably did have a little to do with it, but, I think that with the muscle cars on the way out, and sport compacts on the rise, it was just a matter of time.

also the kids that are like 12 playing gt3 now will want all of those cars when they can afford them or when they hit their mid life crisis, so in a few years instead of seeing old fat guys with bald spots driving corvettes they will be driving skylines and evolutions, lol

The Jaguar you were talking about is an "S-Type R". It has a 4.2 ltr Supercharged DOHC V-8, putting out 390 hp, 399 torque. The engine is all Jaguar, not a Ford Cobra engine (Jags have been raiding the Ford parts bin lately, but they haven't gotten that bad yet!)

Topic....? Oh, yeah! By the way, does anyone here know when Gran Turismo 4 is coming out? It's supposed to be online capable, so I'm REALLY curious.
