Run 150 for 5 miles you will see 100psi of oil constant the whole time but your temp gauge will increase way up into dangerous #'s. It is nice to see when your oil cooler catches up and gets the oil back down to temp. Especialy before shutting the car off. It's kinda like an idiots turbo timer too.
+2 Werd, plus (stated already) you'll know when your engine is truely ready to run hard with the temp gauge.

+1 for the dash mounted factory oil pressure light. I'd notice the oil pressure light before the gauge anyway.

no oil pressure=no mo engine. Temp is nice but you have water temp.
