Edmunds.com Evo VII vs. WRX

Yet another comparison between the Evo VII and WRX. When are they going to realize that they should be comparing it with the STi?

They will compare with the STi when damn Subaru announces the arrival/specs/price of the STi to the US.

Stupid Subaru is still keeping mum about everything

And those SOBs at Edmunds are STILL hatin' on ! First they slam on our beloved Lancer (last years under $20k challenge, I believe) and the last paragraph basically reads: Yes we know the Evo will be superior (if these test drives mean anything) but, well, we're still going with Subie.
These nuts.

If you have ever rode in an Evo over rough roads, you wouldnt want to drive it daily either, trust me.

The WRX makes for a better daily commute/driver car and the Evo makes an excellent track/weekend car.
Really, driving the Evo daily to work would suck

"the WRX was completely stock and rather ordinary compared to the Evo, or even the 265-horsepower WRX STi version that is expected to arrive in 2003"...
thats suprising that suburu didn't even try to match the stock evo viii's 276 hp. That means that the 2nd year evo will be quite a bit quicker then the sti (as i have heard 300+) for year 2

First, again, this is really not a terribly fair comparison... but even having said so, it wasn't terribly clear WHAT they were trying to compare. For example, were they comparing the stree-drivability of the two? Were they trying to compare what is easier to pick up and learn to drive faster? Were they comparing track possibilities? It seems to me it went as follows:

Evo is superior in every test but we will choose the wrx based on a gut feeling. Look, first match the right cars against one another THEN decide what you are matching exactly, THEN do your tests and come out with a result.
