I'm assuming that price for the Evo is pre-tax, title, license, etc. So that makes the price about $1k over invoice. Not bad, but not great.

Also, you have a lot less miles on your SRT-4 than me, so I don't think $16k is necessarily a great price. It's definately not a bad price though. I've seen a lot worse. Although you should be able to sell it on Autotrader for close to $18k if you return it to stock.

This type of perspective may help you if you decide to trade in the car rather than sell it on your own...

For every deal subtract the trade in value of your SRT-4 ($16k) from the OTD value of the Evo (about $31.5k). For this deal you get $15.5k. The lower that final amount, the better the deal. Dealerships will make you think they're giving you a great deal on a new car by drastically lowballing the trade in value of your old ride. I'd say this deal is about a 6/10 IMHO.

I did some more math, with the SRT as a trade, no money down, my monthly payments will be $340/mo for the EVO RS. currently I pay $214.83 for the SRT

I assume insurance should be about the same

You asked if it was a good deal, not if you could afford it. LOL. What's the buyout on your SRT-4 loan?

I owe $10K on my srt

Anyhow, I know I can sell the car on auto trader, but even with the trade in I get a tax break since I'll pay tax on $21300 instead of 27300.

I already have 6K in equity in the RS

but $340 isnt too bad according to my calculations, The dealer calculated $325/mo for me as a monthly payment.

I'm gonna try and see if I can get it to around $300/mo or less

You're in a good position. I would call and get some insurance quotes. For me an RS is only an extra $8 per month. Don't ask me how. It just is. Too many little punks wrapping their SRT-4's around trees I guess.

$340/mo on a 30k car is pretty nice. I'm shooting for about that too.

Insurance wont be the same The srt-4 is under rated HP wise to keep insurance rates from being too crazy, But you probably will see yours go up maybe $200 a year which isnt that bad payment wise...

We picked up our 05' RS for 28,300. But I live in NH so there is no sales tax, yay!!!!!

I dunno phil. My agent said the SRT-4 model has a special flag or something associated with it. It's caused by a high number of accidents, tix, etc. From '03 to '04 my rates went up $260/yr on the Neon. My agent said to expect the same for '05. She said the Evo model wasn't flagged in her systems though...atleast not yet. I'm holding my breath that things won't change.

this is wierd....I actually would need to borrow about $23,242.45. over 72 months at 5.4% interest my monthly payments come out to $378.65 according to the site you mentioned...

How the heck did I get $340/mo in my earlier calculations....this sucks....its simple arithmetic but i usually get different figures....
