Bogus Salepersons!!!

i went to my local mitsu. dealer today and the salesperson told me the the evo VIII will have the following:

315 HP
AYC and ADC
6 Speed tranny from wrc car
10 spoke Enkie wheels with crossed drilled rotors up front and out back
and goes 0-60 in 4.7 sec.
and faster than jap. spec
i asked to see pic. adn he showed me a pic of a evo 7 and said it was an 8 because mitsu changed minds about the evo 8 front bumperand stayed with the seven look

You should have printed out the Tech presentation and given him a copy. Its amazing how little salespeople know about their own products, especially in the auto business.

The presentation that was given at the tech's meeting. Its posted all over this site. It has the spec's in it. I won't call it a tech manual though, because that is really something totally different. This is just a power point.

Yea, it pretty much all depends who you talk too. I know has kept a lot of people in the dark about specs, and that also includes dealers as well.

Some have more information than others... you just need to find them.

Before you go blasting us please keep in mind that Mitsubishi has yet to tell us (the sales staff) ANYTHING official about the car yet. Training on the EVO won't start for probably another month. To find out anything we have to go digging around just like the rest of you and look at the same BS rumors.

So don't be a moron and go running down to your local Mitsubishi store looking for the latest scoop.

huh?

--Well why can't a salesperson just be HONEST? If you don't know the specs, say "I don't know the specs." Its much better than lying about it... which gives salespeople a bad image.

Well, my mitsu sales person said it the Evo was coming in Feb, and it would cost in upwards of $35k (not including mark-ups). That was earlier today, before I found this site. I can only hope he is wrong...

I'm with Mark here. Mitsu has yet to tell any of us about the details on the Evo. Everything we know about it had to come from sources other than our dealer. I spoke to my District Manager about the car and he told me only a few details that we now know to be true. So far, this forum has been the primary source of info...only due to a very small number of people who apparently have a reliable contact at Mitsu.

As far as the salesman you spoke to, please understand that not all salesmen are cheaters and liars. The majority of us are honest and hardworking Americans. There is now such a huge emphasis on CSI and SSI scores that many of us would not dare to tell you anything but the truth. I have found on many occasions a customer who says that buying a car has never been easier. My advice: Go to another dealer.

It appears there are two sales guys posting here. These are obviously NOT the moron who was spouting off all the nonsense which incited this thread. That guy should be reprimanded by the GM as there is no way he could have seriously tried to know anything about the product and really thought all that BS. So he either was talking out his *** or blatantly lying. Both of which suck. What a f'n moron.
So...I'd say post the idiots name and let our fellow sales people call him and tell him to log on here and read a bit...perhaps starting with this thread...so that he can get readjusted and not make the same mistake again. Not all salespeople suck....mean salespeople suck

I'd have to agree. I think the fact that the salesperson didn't have the jam to say "sorry I don't know" was really stupid. I've had many bad experiences with some of my cars, not really the fault of the salesperson but sometimes the companies will try that angle no you. GM did it with me, which i think is wrong because they probably through the blame on the sorry girl that sold me the car when it had nothing to do with her. gah! i have trouble staying on topic....hehe
