One can be wrong but not be lying.

If he wants to supply a potential customer with rumors, that's perfectly fine as long as he tells the customer "Well, these are unsubstantiated rumors, but I heard... " as opposed to "The US version is going to have cross-drilled rotors."
It just bothers me. As a representative of a company, you have to be a bit careful about what you say regarding unreleased products. If you tell a guy something, he's going to take that as more 'true' than what he reads on a rumor website. Take the responsibility and tell the truth.
Note: I'm not bashing you personally in any way. Obviously you weren't the guy who was spreading potential misinformation. I just don't want to see it written off as "Well, salespeople don't know the specs either, so they can say whatever they want."

The moronic salesperson will make things up based upon rumor and conjecture and try to pass them off as truth in a failed effort to seem informed. The salesguy the dude who started this thread dealt with was a moron.
Salepeople across industries seem to have this severe case of diarrhea mouth. And without proper training, they misinform, look stupid, and place the companies they represent in a bad light.
