I just bought a 2005 Lancer EVO VIII GSR tonight in white. I got it without the sun/sound/leather thinking that out of ANYTHING the package offered, I would only want the HIDs. I mean I have a sunroof now and I never use it, leather cracks, and stock radios suck, etc. Was anyone in my same position whe they bought their GSR? Did you regret not getting it? Did anyone who got it regret getting it?

And while I am asking, can I get the HIDs with Foglights online anywhere ?

 

you should've gotten a MR, comes with HID and none of the stuff you don't want.

I like my leather seats on my 04... I was going to rip out the stock stereo anyway so that part of the deal didnt matter to me. Sadly, in my field, classyness goes along way (I am an attorney) and the leather really does help the interior look less cheap. Honestly, I am sure the cloth seats are more comfortable, I've always like cloth interiors.

 

I think the Evo VIII '05 Sun&sound package comes with HID's and foglight, check your window sticker.

i am pretty tall and when i sat in the ssl package i felt i had less headroom with the sunroof. i miss it, as i had one on my last car, but as for leather, no thanks, and sound, i dont really need it.

 

ps. not many 04 doent have the option, every evo i see has a sunroof, except mine.

 

i got an 03, so i got hids, sunroof and no gay leather. pluss i put my own sterio in.

 

I have an 03 and wish I had the option at the time to get the leather interior but it was not available then. O'h well maybe on my next Evo

 

just bought my Wicked White 05 GSR a month ago as well.....


no sun/sound..... sunroof just added weight.... only thing i wanted were the HIDs.........so i opted for no options.....

went to xenondepot.com and bought a nice set of Phillips 9006 HIDS.....looks sweet now......bought the 4300k kit so po-pos don't harass my ***.....





i don't regret not gettin the sun/sound..... i have 4 windows....don't need a sunroof.......

 

Hrm. After picking up my 03 GSR tonite I'm in love with the seats. And the sound system although stock is 90 times better than the one in my WRX. And everytime I turn on the HIDS I marvel at there beauty Man I love this car!!

congrats on your purchase and welcome. I picked up my WW GSR in MA also . I went for the SS&L package cause I wanted to leave everything stock even the radio, which I don't think sounds bad at all espically with the sub in the trunk. Plus I figured when I go to trade it in on an EVO X a few years down the road it will be worth slightly more.

I looked at the regular RECARO seats and didn't think they went with the car very well. THen I looked at the leather RECARO seats and new it was what I wanted. Also I talked to other people who didn't have leather and said that after the sat in my seats they wished the did.

it all comes down to personal opinion but I have 0 regrets.

I got an RS which is totally stripped. The leather/sunroof/stereo package just adds weight. An EVO is not a Lexus!!!

 

I like the leather, but don't need the sunroof, and don't want an over bassed thumping stereo that just takes up trunk space - I had an Rx7TT with the Bose stereo and never listened to it, so the extra dollars for the whole package didn't seem worth it.
