1st oil change?

^ my total cost to change it myself was $30. if you have to use a drive up on a curb and crawl under there real quick. i would've changed it at least once by now, but i wouldnt sweat it. i dont think that it owuld be bad to only go every 5k, but that is longer than i would go. just look at the oil, and make a judgement call. look at color, and smell of it. good luck.

ps synthetic oil- at least mobil 1, seems pretty dark to begin with.

My personal opinion is that chanigng the oil every 3000 miles is overkill with modern engiinesand oil, but it can't hurt, that's for sure, so if it makes you feel better go for it. I'll probably use the manufacturers recommendation unless I start some serious track driving or other heavy duty use.
