I say 1,000 miles for your 1st oil change, or it depends on when you wanna do it. OEM oil filter costs $5.50 to $6.00 at the dealer

Yeah, change the oil... I use fram tough guard and it seems to work for my car. Now I dont know if any one has a different opinion on this oil filter.

I changed my oil at 500, I think its best to change the original oil quickly. I've been told the factory filter is the best for the car, I wish I could remember the reason

well I'm sure it isnt that bad of an oil filter, I've only used it once and I'm about to use it again tomorrow (sat) to do my oil change, but I guess I'll go to the dealer and buy thier OEM filter.

CHANGE your oil after the first 500, after that you can pretty much do it whenever you feel like it. There's nothing wrong with changing it often either. I changed mine after 500 and do every 1500 or so since.

My first change was at 1000 miles and every 3k after that. I buy my own Mobile 1 and have the dealer use it with their filter.

For the first 3 oil changes. I saw some casting debris in the oil filter.
This alarmed me at first but it was just part of the break-in to get rid of any more foreign material when the motor was being built.

i picked up the oem filter and the washer type thing to prevent thread stripping for $7. that filter was a super biotch to get off though. i got mobil 1 at costco, for $23 a case. a good deal considering the service department wants $75 to do it. but i have free maintenence so they change my oil every 5k for me, so i do it once in between, so essentially it gets changed every 2.5k. they use the stock filter, and so i figured i had better use it as well.

Changing the oil at 1000 or a 1200 is fine. After that just change it every 3000 or so. Remember its synthetic you could drive it for 4000 before an oil change. As for changing the oil every 1500 that's over kill unless your beating the **** out of your car.

I have free maintenence for 3 years: oil change every 5,000 miles is free. I'm on a college budget. Is it clearly bad for the engine to only change the oil every 5,000 miles? (That's what the owners manual recommends--not that I necessarily put stock in what the owners manual says.) Also, I've put 2,000 miles on the car without changing the oil. Please help...I don't want to damage my engine, on the other hand I don't have much money to spend on something that 'may not be necessary' but, 'doesn't hurt'. Know what I mean?
