JGTC and Me at Calif. Speedway
JGTC and Me at Calif. Speedway
I ran HPDE at California Speedway road course with SpeedVentures yesterday (Fri. Dec. 17). It is a great, high speed track. Running on part of the Nascar Oval was incredible. Had a great time driving.
Not only that, but the JGTC drivers were running practice races in preparation for the big event this weekend (Dec. 18 & 19). During a long lunch break and in the evening under the lights after Speed Ventures was done, the JTC cars flew and screamed down the Nascar Oval. Had a great view from the stands.
There were several other EVOs in HPDE, but none from JGTC. John Mueller and Kent Jordan were there with Kent's car. Robi was there and so was the Sparco car. Aaron Bitterman brought his EVO too. It was a great day!

I would of loved to have seen that practice. Any pics/vids? They need an event on the east coast, too. Hopefully there is a really go response with this event to make them think about an east coast event.
Sorry, no pics of the JGTC practice. My fault, I was having so much fun I forgot the camera was in my gym bag in the car.
Most of the JGTC cars are NSX, 350Z or Supra TT. There was one RX-7 (loud!!!), one Celica and one WRX, but no EVOs.
Most but not all the cars are Japanese. There was one Ferrari 360, one or two Porsche 911, one Viper, and an ORANGE (Ameritech) McLaren F1 that had to be the fastest car out there. Also two sports racers I did not recognize.
Getting to drive 4 HPDE run sessions on the track and watching the practice races made for a terrific day. Thanks to Aaron and Speed Ventures.

If you want to see what it's like to drive the road course at Calif. Speedway (much faster than me), follow this link to a video of John M. driving Kent's car
.
It takes a long time to download, but it's worth it.
