If it makes you happy, go for it. But i think the money can be spent in other places. There are tons of useful mods for our cars and IMO, this would not be one of them. My $.02.

Configurations of an engine always play a role in requirements. A turbo 4 versus a Natural 8 is no comparison. If you had, say a 3.0L 6 and a 3.0L 4, the 6 is naturally more efficient due to the abililty of a smaller cylinder make use of equally large runners and valves, hence moving more air, requiring more fuel making more power. An 8 needing a dual exhaust is understandable. An 8 can make more power at a much lower efficiency than a 4 just due to the physical layout. A turbo 4 will not make use of a dual exhaust just because of the limitations it has by the size and number of valves it's got to move air. A 4.0L V8 or a 4.0L 4 cylinder would necessitate entirely different exhausts. Take a look at some of the 5.0 V10's and 12's of the supercar league, they use dual exhausts...also making a ton of power.

A Vette at 6.0 Litres and making approx 400 horses makes 67 horses per liter and needs a dual exhaust. Our cars stock make 271 at two liters making 136 per litre. The turbo has much to do, but look at the efficiency in comparison...so layout and power are two different things.

I am cleaning this up. No reason for it to have been brought back.

well, in my second post that you deleted. i believe the reason was clear enough.

im curious as to what people think about the newer evo coming with a dual exhaust, yet being a 4 cylinder. i looked into this a while back for my VIII, but was under the impression it would be an awful mod to preform.

is there a difference between our old VIII and the X that would make the dual exhaust more appropriate now?

No. It's just for looks. It's a single exhaust with two tips. There is absolutly no reason for a 4 cylinder to have duel exhaust unless it's possibley twin turbo, which is not very commen.

I'm not a dual fan, but many many car manufacturer makes 4cylinder with dual set up now, nothing really note worthy though anymore.
If you like the dual set up , then do it. But at least do it with a JDM bumper ... I think the factory bumper with dual exhaust, is just looks bad.

The only thing I agree to is that it's a waste of time, money, and taste.

I usually don't criticize people on their choices as it's their car but this is just crossing the line.

Even though it's a photochop the dual setup looks terrible and kills the lines of the car from the rear. It's symmetrical, but I have to go with everyone else on this one....that just sucks. Not to mention where the exhaust Pipe Y's off into the two mufflers there would be some turbulence from the exhaust gasses getting stuck swirling there in the Y that could create a restriction.

that photoshop above is brutal.. dual angled tips would NOT be an option. a new rear bumper would be necessary. the tip position and angle would have to be like the X. not angled, pointed straight back.

but all that said, its still interesting to see owners maintain the single over dual. my evo is long gone, and i thoroughly enjoyed my buschur 3" TBE.
