Just got new EVO. Some feelings and lots of questions.
I don't understand why some of you feel compelled to mess with the oil. Seriously, you are just asking for trouble. Run the oil that came in it and get the oil changed at the recommended interval just like the manufacturer recommneds - 3000 miles according to my dealer. Everything will be fine - and if it's not, it'll be covered by warranty. Otherwise, the dealer will say that you have screwed around with the car (which you have) and can deny any warranty cliams
As far as the S2K goes, if I was looking for a rear wheel drive two seat convertable I would have looked at one.....

This is a reply to the original post. Since you got an '04 VIII, you did not get the front limited slip differential that I got on my '04 RS, and that comes on all '05 EVO models. I would suggest you invest in a front LSD. That will solve the steering problem you complain about. My RS has incredibly precise steering.
As for mods, mine were all done by John Mueller and his team at Road Race Engineering in Santa Fe Springs, Calif. I have cams, upgraded intercooler, airflow controller, bigger fuel injectors, fuel pump, gauges to monitor air/fuel ratio and exhaust temperature, manual boost controller, head studs, intake, titanium exhaust, rally cat, 3" downpipe, coil overs, rear swaybar, and 4-point harness.
To use a phrase, it HAULS ***!!!

Leave the engine and intake stock for now. I would start with a turboback exhuast after breaking in the engine using regular non-synthetic oil for the first couple of thousand miles then maybe move on to engine management.
2) Would this improve over time as the suspension is broken in?
you might want to check your tire pressure as evo is known as probably the sharpest handling compact car ever. The steering is faster than everything else out there and you should feel very connected to the road. Maybe give it more time.
Sorry can't help you on the rest.

You have to use synthetic oil on the EVO. these engines are broken in from the manufacture.
The engine is NOT broken in from the factory, don't listen to anyone on here or anyone at the dealership, stick to your owners manual which specifically talks about the 500 mile break-in period, as well as the break-in for the clutch and the brakes...if you come to something the owners manual can't answer, then ask on here, definitly don't drive it hard for the first 500 miles, though.
Edit: Hell, don't even listen to me...you can't believe everything you read on the internet.
