yeah I think for the most part I'm only gonna be able to strip off a few of the easier mods like my safc, gauges, mbc, intake, deck, etc. For the exhaust parts I'll probably just leave it on as it'll be a pain to deal with getting them off. We'll see how things go.....

The repair shop I have it at is M2 Collison, they guarantee the repairs for life and said that if anything is wrong that I can bring it back anytime. I do agree that it likely won't be 100% like new since there was some frame damage.

Just went to mitu., looks like the MR is going to be too much of a difference for me. I'm probably just going to pick up a wicked white GSR with SSL package.

yea stripping the parts of it would be illegal, just let the insurance company take care of it. It doesnt really look like it would be totaled though.

Sorry to hear what happened. Keep us posted with what's going to happen with your car.... If your car get's totaled, hopefully it won't cost much to buy it back, should you decide to, so you can strip it and get the most from it to lessen the financial impact...

I'm glad you're okay though, and sorry about your car. It does appear that it will be deemed a total loss. That looks like a pretty bad hit.

When somebody hit and totalled my Civic Si, my insurance company told me that I could go and get all of my aftermarket parts off the car as long as I put stock ones back, (which I threw in the back seat).

The parts that I was not able to salvage they told me that I needed a receipt for them and then they wrote me a check for what I paid for them.

Too fan the older driver issue. My old Honda VX was rear ended by a very lost old guy as I was pulling into my driveway. It was his third accident in as many months.

It usually takes time for the insurance companies to hash out who owes what. I wasn't at fault in an accident a few years back and it took the company three months to "determine responsibility". Funny thing was we both had the same insurance company.

If he pays the deductible, he will get his money sooner. He'll get his $500 back though.

Yes. Not only that you should give the other driver's insurance company a call and find out how much they will pay you. Did you get a police report on the accident? Did the other driver get cited for any driving violations? These things go a long way to getting you $

If it was the other guy's fault then his insurance company should be covering the entire cost of getting your car repaired or pay the entire value of your car. They should also be paying for a rental car for you until it is reapired or you have their money. They should also pay something for the inconvenience to you.

Remember that the money the insurance company offers you is just that: an offer to settle your claim out of court and without lawyers getting involved. You can decide to take the offer or you can ask for more.

While I don't believe in ripping off the insurance companies with false claims or phoney aches and pains, I do believe in getting what I am entitled. And that does include the pain and suffering for losing "my baby" (your words)

regards,
alan

Hmm, whatever you do:

Buy back the wreckage of your "baby"!!!

From the looks of it, that would give you numerous advantages:

1. Your Mods!!! You can use at least 90% of that stuff on the new car... Why should it be damaged by the crash? The engine-compartment is barely bent...
2. The engine might actually still be good! Don't take my word for it, but once again: It could easily have survived the crash!
3. Anything else on the car!!! This is a new car, for Christ Sakes!!! If you sell all the parts, even on ebay, you will get S**TLOADS of cash more than you payed for the wreckage!!! We're talking thousands here!!!

Sorry for your loss! Make it a gain!
