What a Christmas present!

Hi everyone, well last week the day before christmas eve, I was happily on my way home from my last day of work just entering my vacation, when an elderly couple turned right into my evo. The crappy thing is that I had just gotten the car tuned a couple weeks before with my mods, and she only had 8000 miles on her.

I was not at fault whatsoever in the accident so I shouldn't be effected, but I believe that the money I had just put in for my mods over the last few months is now a waste.

Anyways, the estimate came out to be $24,200 in damage so that means with my $500 deductable that the insurance will be paying $23,700. This high damage, combined with the high salvage worth of the evo, I'm pretty sure that she's been totalled. I've heard evos being totalled with less damage. I guess I get the final word on Monday, but what do you all think? I have State Farm Insurance BTW.

If she's totalled, time to start considering whether or not the MR is worth the extra moolah over the GSR! A happy new year to everyone, too bad it wasn't for my baby....

It's probably totaled, as that's pretty close to the value of the car. Glad you're okay, though. Too bad that you've lost your mod money, too, ouch.

14,300 of the estimate was for parts! $1200 headlight, $1500 steering wheel, $1300 pass. side airbag, etc.

yeah the main thing is that I don't think anybody was seriously hurt from the accident. Mitsu airbags work, chassis was strong, which reaffirms the fact that I'll be buying another one.

Are any of your mods salvagable? If they do total the car, which they may by the looks of it, you would be wise to grab as many of your parts before the tow truck takes it away.

Grab enough to at least cover your deductable of $500. That way your total out of pocket is $0

yeah, if you hear the word totalled, i would be taking everything i could off of that thing. trunklid w/spoiler, rims, seats, ect. you could easy make you money back off of your detuctible, and if you bought another evo you could use the rims again, and the spoiler (rs?)
sorry to hear of your bad luck, but at least everyone is okay. i can just picture the older couple getting out, and being so scared and sorry about it. anyway, best of luck.

Buy it back from the insurance company and then fix it. I bet they would sell it to you for about 5 grand then you could fix it or have it fixed with used or aftermarket parts and you would have less than 15k in it. And probably wouldnt have a payment at all.

I would have never thought that would be a totaled car, Ive seen much worse looking cars get repaired at a fraction of that cost....Good Luck...
