I was speaking with a sales manager in reference to when they will receive the new EVO's.. He stated that they usually get them in about 3 weeks prior to the release date so they may be able to show them off and train on them. But, he also noted that they are specifically not for sale, just there as demo's. So, maybe sometime before Christmas some dealers will have an EVO sitting around in their lot?! I know I'm gonna check..

 

When we looked up my EVO on the computer at the dealership, it had a build date of 12/18. It still has to ship here, go through customs etc. I doubt we would see one before late Jan, if that.
My dealer also said they would probably have it for a couple of weeks before they can release it. Something about not getting the paperwork from Mitsubishi. Maybe they are full of it.
Can someone say what the normal difference between build and delivery dates are?

 

A build date is the day that it's supposed to be started down the assembly line to be assembled. The delivery date is the day that it should be on the lot, ready for someone to buy it.

They say they need to hang on to it for a while before they can release it to you? If it has more than 10 miles on it, I'd tell them to order you a new one! Don't let the mechanics use your's for the tester. I know of at least one dealership here in KC that's flat out said that's what they'll be doing (letting the mechanics drive them first.)

 

Nah, they told me it wouldnt be driven by anyone except me, and would come with only a couple miles on it. It just would have to sit in the showroom until the invoice showed up. They claim that the first Nissan 350z there had the same thing, so that Nissan could assure some would sit there for a few days. I think it is a bit BS, but I dont really care as long as Im the first and only driver of it.

 

Mitsubishi doesn't give delivery dates, just ship dates. The ship date is when it leaves the port on a transporter. As for the mechanics driving your car, if you don't like it you won't be able to get an EVO. The tech's are required to drive every single car that comes off the transporter as part of the PDI process.

Honda I understand gets upset if dealers RDR a car that has less than 10 miles on it. They WANT the techs driving the cars that far.

 

That's BS. We get the invoices before the cars arrive. So does Nissan (I sell both).

 

They may just want it to sit on the showroom floor so people can at least look at one. No touch, just look. Maybe play with a few buttons, but no test drives.
