Road & Track Raves Over Long-Term EVO
Road & Track Raves Over Long-Term EVO
In the Feb. '05 issue of Road & Track, they wrap up their 50,000 mile long term test of the '03 EVO VIII. They absolutely loved the car, calling it easily one of the 10 best cars of all time, and totally dependable. Example: "the EVO makes cars like the Nissan 350Z, Porsche Boxster, Mazda RX-8, Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe--and even the Lotus Elise--seem like silly purchases when you can have similar performance (or better, in most cases) with four doors and a trunk."

My personal experience with the car, and its reliability agrees with that assessment..
My car is modified and still reliable, though I'm getting a rattle from a heat shield or something under the car now that I can't find, likely something with the aftermarket exhaust.. but thats the worst of it.
I never was a fan of 4 door cars until I got the Evo.. I love my little sedan..

While I agree with the assessment, it seems clear to me that the Mitsubishi PR/marketing bandwagon is in nearly full swing. They have done a pretty good job pushing the Evo out front & center in the press and letting it generate some halo effect. Press coverage is a cheap way to get the exposure. Whoever is in marketing at Mitsubishi that is responsible for this particular channel is doing a great job. As long at they can keep the sh itty dealer network from screwing up all their hardwork, they actually might not go out of business.
^ good point. they are running test cars all over every possible magazine. the outcome has been super succesful. in the last c&d that i read there was a letter from a guy that was saying how if mitsu gives evo owners such a hard time, why are people still buying the car instead of the STI. well if he took the time to read the articles in other magazines he would now. (last issue of SCC- evo car of the year, and they pick the new MR over the STI in a road test comparo)
