I've been getting the static shock from my '03 Evo since I first bought the car new. I've installed a grounding kit in hopes to eliminate this problem. What's even worse is, when my g/f's in the car and brushes her hair. The static kicks up a notch then.

I don't think it's the seats because I've got Sparco Torinos in mine and still have the problem.

Whatever the cause, I hate it!

That stuff works, but come on, it's so tacky and ugly.

I hope so much for everyone to not do this on their evo.

You could touch the rubber part of your car or the metal part of your car when you get out to ground yourself.

Or wear less fuzzy things. lol

yeh, they are. They're really really popular in all asia. They have about 1000 different sort of those things. It basically attaches to the frame and grounds it constantly by having it touch the road.

Spray the seat with any clothing anti-static/cling spray and it will get rid of it. It also works if have a highend stereo system in a carpeted room, just spray a 8' circle around the system and it will stop the static from building up when you want to the system. The seat is doing the same thing so just spray it and it will stop.

It happens to me every winter but its not just my Evo, I also get shocked when i'm in my sister Altima. What I do is when stepping out (butt still in the seat), grab the door (the outside part) and then get up and close the door.

sorry it's just funny picturing all these people getting shocked at once by their Evos. Guess I should stop laughing though since it's never happened to me... =x

I close the door with the back of my arm (tricep) - doesn't hurt there much either.

These things are SO ghey, all the cars in the UK in the '80s had them for 'lightening protection' we don't even get any lightening!!!

But on topic : I get shocked EVERY time, mind you I get shocked off everything, my stereo, door handles (in the house), lightswitches, microwave, oven (that one really hurts).

I used to get shocked off my WRX all the time too! Never off my Audis though, must be a jap thing
