In regards to the drivetrain, according to 15.jpg, looks like we are getting the same drivetrain as the RS model with the 1.5WAY LSD. This is the preferred drivetrain for competition use, so for those of you whining that we are not getting in our USDM version what makes an Evo an Evo, because of the drivetrain, you are wrong. Interestingly as well is the option for AYC on the RS model, which means, if Mitsubishi offers this in the U.S. in the future, we can upgrade.

Bottom line, we are getting a reinforced for crash tests J-spec Evo VIII GSR, with the RS drivetrain. Mitsubishi is doing a great job on the Evo they are bringing us.
Optimism makes the world go round. Well said, but unfortunately people will continue to whine. There's not much you can do about it considering this isn't the first time reason has spoken.

Since those are scans, not actual text on the computer, babelfish cannot do anything for you unless you handtype in the Japanese. And if you could do that, you could translate it faster yourself.

Feel free to ask me about specific pages (please provide a link for speed), but I cannot translate everything, nor can I be by the computer that often (it's christmas eve, I'm going shopping right now).

Nothing special listed so far that isn't in the Evo VII english brochures/pdf's, though. MMC is clearly worried about the STi this time around, they usually don't do price comparisons. That said, this may be a dealer prep manual that isn't normally available to the public.

I was expecting more new than what's indicated in this guide. I hope this is mainly pre-release information that is not finalized.

Cheers,

Paul Hansen

Paul,
On the page headed Q&A there is a steering wheel....are they commenting on the steering ratio or the steering sensor for the sport ABS?

Question JDM not EVO VIII?

Wierd that all the pictures of the JDM cars dont have a VIII on the front license plate. I wonder if this is a world wide change?

Japan Vehicles listed this as "Evolution logo on trunk lid" with an * out to the right saying "abolished numbering". (This the last item listed under the exterior features if you care to take a look)

Noticed the Japanese Evo8 interior has a blue trim but the US Evo8 interior is a "dark titanium" trim.

Neither, they are talking about the power steering pump. I believe they made a more compact, lighter version.

Thumbs up

Cool pics. It looks like the ACD button on JDM version is right next to the mirrors, just opposite side. Is there anyway that button will shift to the left side for us..please..please.

When the U.S. changes it's vehicle regulations. In other words, never.

EDIT: Nice clean-up job by the mods.

It's good to know that the JDM EvoVIII is faster than the JDM EvoVII. It looks like Mitsu is trying to improve on the Evo, shaving off some weight and improving the torque.

Also, did you guys notice that the JDM Evo's rear bumper is different from the US Evo?
Check this pic

and compare with this

This is no real surprise considering most all cars brought to the US, after previously being unavailable here, have their bumper changed to meet 5mph tests.

USDM EVO got back

I like the bigger bumper. I like someplace to set a package while I'm opening the trunk or a place to step to tie my shoe.
Speaking of trunk, I wonder if we'll have remote trunk opening? I like the electronic key from the .jp article listed above. On my Ford, I have a key, and a key fob for locking and unlocking. It's cool I'll get one key that does both.

Talked to dealer TUE, and they've still heard nothing about first shipment of EVO, so I guess I'll be getting one later. bummer. What's the use of a deposit if you're not getting it first?
