Here are the curb weights they list. The heaviest is 1410*2.2= 3,102. So I guess our car has 150lbs of extra safety stuff.? Maybe Mitsu is sandbagging the weight for insurance purposes?

You just answered the question I've been having.

150 lbs for crash reinforcment could be done quite easily.

 

I thought the VIII was supposed to be lighter than the VII though... The VII weighs 3042 lbs

US weighs w/ a full (and larger) fuel tank, spare, jack and all the crash testing reinforcements.

I bet it is lighter.

 

That was only a myth made up on these boards and I'm not sure how it came about. It had been indicated about a month and a half ago that the JDM Evo VIII would be slightly heavier then the VII due to the 6 speed tranny.

 

O I C, too bad we aren't getting that tranny though.
