Oil temp readings on MR
For those of you who have a MR, what are your normal oil temp readings when driving normally?
Mine doesn't go more than 70 deg C. I'm wondering why my oil temp gauge range is so high.

Aren't the MR's just Evos with an extra gear? Why would your oil temp be any different than any other Evo? My Evo also runs about that temp under normal driving and under a heavy throttle it may hit 180-190 F.
If you are asking about the actual gauge and not the car, it is for two reasons:
1: The EVO can get a lot hotter than it does under daily driving
2: The Mitsu gauge pack is poop

my MR gets up to about 70 in normal driving..... but upt to around 90 mountain driving (deg C). depends alot on the outside temp also.... I think what you are seeing is normal.
90 deg C = around 190 F.... so the mitsu gauge aint that bad...

About 70C is normal, though I've hit 80C under more spirited conditions. 100+C under extended heavy use would be expected though -- like running an entire tank non-stop on the track.
Remember though, the sensor for that gauge is hooked to the drain plug, so it's probably the coolest spot if anything.

Oil temp gauge
Thanks for everyone's response. The reason I ask about the MR's specifically is the oil temp sender is in the oil pan at the drain plug. It'll read a lower temperature than where most people put their aftermarket oil temp sensor. It's also been raining every day I drove my car, and that should affect the oil temp readings. Most of my readings are at the very low end of the gauge, 60 deg or less. It hit just under 70 once (guess the road was dry). It would also take a really long time for the temperature to read anything over 50 deg, the lowest reading on the gauge.
My readings are pretty low also... I just put my turbo back exhaust on and I sprayed it with high temp paint from the down pipe back and now the reading are even lower... just above the 50 and 60
my readings seem to be very low..
When running normally, i run just above 50 C, when idling right around 70 C, and when boosting hard (5000-6500rpms) and 1.45 bar, I'm still around 50-60 C. Maybe this is because I'm in Seattle and its pretty chilly right now, so the increased airflow at higher speeds cools it down.

I think my gauge is faulty. since I had the mr the oil temp gauge has not read higher than 50 at all. so besides checking the oil drain plug, anywhere else I should trouble shoot? I dont want to take car to dealer since I moved the gauges.
mine usually reads about 70 c also. It seems like mine also takes a little while to warm up, because I've looked at mine a couple times and thought It might not be working and I 'd look at it agian a couple of minutes later and it would be showing about 70 c.
