Don't feel too bad folks. I've seen the seatback (which is STITCHED) fall off of a B5 Audi S4 that only had about 36K on the odometer.

Though I do expect this stuff. It is a Mitsu after all, and apparently they skimped on a few things (like the recirculating valve...) to keep costs down here.

The area on the driver side cushion under my left thigh is starting to look worn and the plastic seatback cracked and was replaced under warranty. Before the warranty goes up I'm gonna ask them to replace the cushion part. I will post a picture if I can.

I've never had a problem with these cars. I guess I am just lucky. Even after my first Evo was totaled (hit a tree square in the center of the trunk at about 65 MPH along with a bunch of other impacts), it still didn't break the seats in any way. They still slid all the way in each direction on the sliders, and the seatbacks still adjusted forward and backward.

Very strange.

maybe i'm just lucky, but in my '03 evo which i traded in (15,000 miles), i have had no seat problems whatsoever. same with my new MR (1500 miles), they feel very solid.

But i'm not surprised at a couple seats breaking....cornering at 120mph puts a lot of gs on those buckets!

my driver side seat the bolster part is in 2 piece, the foam part.

anyway, I may try the dealer. I'm sure they'll say it's normal wear and tear.

Anyway, i know how it happened. the tech always sit there on it when they work on my car, like oil change or dealer flash. Bastards.

I had the same problem with the side of my driver's seat coming undone. There's an easy fix for this. The next time it comes off, you should hammer the metal tab underneath before sliding it back in. This will make it a lot tighter and will hold the plastic rail in place. I've never had a problem since.
