Reckless Driving ticket advise?

Ok, I know few of you guys got this ticket from speeding over 50mph or street racing.

Need to find out some court precedure for this. It's not my ticket, it's friends and those of you who know me know who it is and try not to tell anybody about it, since we like to keep it sorta confident.

anyway, if you're going to say something retarded keep it to yourself, because this ticket is basically profiling ticket. There were about 6 cars and motorcycles doing the same speed on 75 north and this person got pulled over before the cop pulled over the motorcycle.

Now, the person lives in a different state then where the ticket was given. I personally know the cop who gave the ticket and honestly this cop is the biggest *****. So many people got pulled over by this guy and most people who got pulled over is in import scene. He pulled me over last time for my wing and ask me if my stock exhaust was legal.

So, it's 50mph over but it's 75 north. Anyone who drive this highway daily knows that noone does the posted speed limit, which is 55mph (everyone does 80mph +, especially Atlanta SUV's.)

The court told me that theres $65 to extend the date of the court for 4 weeks, which I think it's wrong.

I just need to find out if the person should get a lawyer like few of you did or just plead No Contest for the reckless driving and pay for the speeding ticket...

Thanks.

So your saying the ticket is for 105mph in a 55mph zone. Or am I misunderstanding you. If it is tell your friend "Good luck with that ." And get a lawyer.

If this is your first or only ticket you can try to work out a deal by pleading no contest. I did this with a ticket for racing on streets and highways. I paid a 35 dollar court cost and went to "driving class".

Next option is a laywer.. which could be more expensive than the ticket itself.

Ok, I was cited for street racing in um...february of 2002 before I got my evo, in Florida. The cop actually thought he was doing me a favor by not citing me for wreckless driving. I looked up the statute which i was cited under (street racing) and tried to look at the wording of it to see how I could get out of it based on the circumstances which i was driving under. I've had alot of tickets and taken alot to court and gotten out of most of them by bringing up technicalities - officer's field of view, road conditions, etc, but I wasnt able to find any way I was going to be able to get out of the street racing ticket. The statue left a very broad area for defining what street racing was. Basically if you take off from a starting point with someone next to you you can be cited for street racing. In florida its an automatic year suspension of your license along with a bunch of other crap which I just had to take like a man and get a work permit licence for a year and drive very well . If I were you, if you were infact street racing, take it like a man and dont bother wasting the $ on a lawyer.. they wont be able to get you out of this one more than likely. If you try to fake your way out of it, the judge could increase the amount of time that you are penalized based on what the statute says for your particular state. Hope this helps.

yeh, that's what I'm thinking. Friend could plea no contest for the reckless driving and just deal with the speeding ticket.

From what I heard, the Reckless driving ticket can't be over $1000 and 50mph over is about $1300 + .

that makes me sick.

Get a lawyer. 2 options for lawyers, hire one outside of the courthouse for a couple hundred. Or hire a lawyer that stands around the courtroom for $40-$50. Most likely your friend will get x month supervision and a fine with no record, or the case dropped if the lawyer is good.

I don't understand how it's "profiling" if your friend is doing 55mph over the speed limit? I can see it if he got stopped for a wing or if he was doing 9 mph over the limit, but 55?

anyway, I said he was profiling me before and he does that to most import cars, maybe I didn't write that right. Obviously my friend was going a bit fast with few other cars but they didn't get pulled over for some reason.

I got pulled over because of my wing by the same cop and speeding over 10 mph while I was going the flow of the traffic.

If its your friend's first ticket within a year, then do the no contest, take the class (probably aggressive driving 8 or 4 hour class) and pay the fine. honestly unless there is still evidence at the scene or pictures that were taken that a lawyer could argue things with the judge about a lawyer is a waste of time.

I got cited with wreckless driving and arrested "ROR" for blowing my horn and swerving to not hit two people that stepped out into traffic w/o looking. I was prolly doing about 45 in a 35. This was in my old civc. I thougt no big deal I'll plead No Contest. I given a huge fine, 6 months probation and 100 hours of community service on the Roads crew fixing roads. Cost 50$/month for probation, had to go to the PO once a month, and I also had to take a 12 driving course with was over 100$. Sucked big time! Oh also had to pay to do the CS.

also, the other guys who were driving the same speed sped off and got away. so no witness or picture.

If you wanna get the statue # from the citation and post it on here along with the state it was from I could look it up to see really if there's gonna be anyting you could argue.

I don't have the citation number and I don't think my friend wants to post that up, want to be private.

anyway, it's not processed yet.

How much did you people pay for the reckless driving citations?

This is going to be Cobb County ticket.

hope your friend's record is clean... get a lawyer…preferably one who knows the local da’s.. try to get a deal with the da wherein if a year goes by and your friend has ZERO encounters with cops, no tickets, no nothing, the da will drop the charges and it'll be like it never happened.. of course if your friend has any future encounters with cops within the year he's screwed big time...better than points, community service, and a suspended license though
