Problems?? What problems? The first EVOs in the US have no major problems at all.

Well I never said MAJOR problems but how about all the bad syncros and trannys in the 03? Sure - owners abused their cars and such but a friend of mine had his syncros and tranny rebuilt with only 8K miles.

He doesn't drag race, launch, or track the car at all. Not even an aggressive driver at best and he knows how to shift and yet the whole tranny had to be rebuilt - coincidence? I don't think so.

I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death somewhere but I think buying the MR will be a smart choice because one will be able to enjoy a "bug" free car now.

i read that the evo IX wont get the MIVEC. **** i personally love my evo. but the 03 evo were evos built on a better DSM AWD system. i dont have a problem wit that but i want a true Evo like in japan. the want the front lsd, acd, ayc (which we might not get). i personally love the look of the evo VIII. but i do want a 6-speed and front lsd and ACD. cuz in vegas ACD would be nice to have since that pavement is sometime solid concrete, then its dusty *** gravel, and when it rains getting slippery as hell wit the water and gravel.

if to upgrade a 03 with a front LSD, ACD, and 6-speed (which isnt totally necessary but would be very much enjoyed) is cost effective ill do that. but it doesnt seem to be. i thinking of trading for a evo IX if the price is coo, maybe even for a 05 or MR. i truly love my evo and dont want to have any other. it really looks like i might just burn the cash and upgrade my car, and then still the evo IX engine unless a MIVEC swap is possible for the 03 evos. but a trade is still possible.

as for the Evo X it looks like a SRT-4 to me wit a little cougar mixed in. i know the goodies on that car are gonna be great. but the loss of the iron block engine worries me, u gotta love a engine that takes boost and spits it out with no problem. but the addition of MIVEC is great cuz its helping the ralliart lancer out real well (to be the car is only a single cam), and the rumor of the engine being more than a 2.0L, possibly a 2.4L is great too.

alot of dealers do lie too. I asked the dealer how many MR's were made and they told me 2500 or so. what a bunch of liars. to be honest, most dealerships dont know crap, there are salesmen out there that dont know jack about these cars, except for they are in magazines and most talked about.

One of my friend went to Japan Autoshow. He saw the Red Evo IX RalliArt.

He ask if the rear bumper will fit on a Evo VIII, and the guy say yes.

Should be the same for the front.

Have you even driven the new MR?...... How can you call it dissappointing? I've had an '03 GSR and now the '05 MR. This car is absolutely superior to the '03 in many ways. There is absolutely no way that $5K of mods will make another model EVO as good as the MR.... Of course, it might not be for you or just for anyone. You gotta pony up the extra $5K right up front and that might be too much for some ppl. I totally understand that. However, that does not mean that the MR is dissappointing or not worth it....

Oh yeah, as for the original question, just wait for the latest model, that way you'll get the newest and most up-to-date thing... Don't get the IX, wait for the X.... Or better yet, wait for the XI or XII.... Wait, wait, maybe wait for the XX or later....

Get the IX. From my research allof the things that make the mr great will be included in the IX's msrp. The resale will be good for either look at Kelly BB and the Evo holds its values very well so we are talking pennies of difference betweenthe mr and the ix. It just depends on the retailprice for the ix. My estimates will be between the current mr and viii models.

There will allways be a cooler car comeing out that we want , Remember when the 03 came out people where paying 40k and up for a 27,000 $ car . the 9 will be a great car . but can you really say i will use every last bit of performance on that car to make it worthy to buy . some time we have to be happy for what we got.

The IX will still be a ways off, at least a year. From what I've heard the IX is basically an MR with some minor differences, in rumor mostly. As far as the price, I believe it will be at least as much if not more expensive than the MR. If you have an evo now it doesn't matter IX or MR. If there's a couple things I know is there is no way to actually tell what something comes with until it's out. I read several articles about MR with aluminum body that would be under 3000 lbs. and over 300 hp. I got an MR, and love it so far, but it's my first Evo. Also no matter what things get better with competition and time. If you wait things will get better, but expect to pay more $$$. And how much better will it be than what you already have?

Some EVOs have problems, others do not. It's incorrect to say that they are completely trouble free or to say that they are plagued with problems. All cars have some percentage of defects or failures. The EVOs are probably in the median. I've had no problems with either of my EVOs which could not be attributed to the mods done to them.

I think there may be some confusion here, the EVO MR was just another desciption for the EVO 8.5. The EVO IX will obviously have all the features of the 'MR' unless that particular component has been updated.

Evo IX RS (stripped out with LSD - pure hardcore)
Evo IX GT (all the bells and whistles of the GSR with the exception of the S-AYC and the HID lamps (optional))
EVO IX GSR - full bells and whistles with AYC.

The only way a EVO IX MR will appear is if they need a 'filler' car between the IX and X.

I've just received pricing for the order I've placed with an importer - will let you know what its like in flesh when it arrives (late march/early april) (going for the GT).

(GT 23,900 gbp) (GSR 25,400 gbp)
