O2 housing/DP install

Went to the shop today to install the Megan Racing downpipe and the Megan Racing O2 housing and ran into some problems. First, i disassembled the downpipe by taking off the plastic under cariage then unbolting the necessary bolts. Then I got to the O2 housing and was very stumpped. I ended up re-installing the stock downpipe and leaving discouraged. I couldn't figure out how to get to the 02 housing at all. Im thinking that i might have to take off the front bumper and the radiator but thats not good for me because I tend to forget where things go. If any one can help me with some specific installation instructions it would be a great help. Thx

its a real pain to do. it took me about 2 hours to put the o2 housing on. the covers over the turbo are a pain. but out of the five bolts on the 02 the middle one towards the block is the hardest. you nedd patience and being flexible are good assests to have when changing it. next time i have to do it im going to take the whole turbo off. it would be quicker.

I had problems with the heat shielding but do I need to take off the radiator or the front bumper just to get to it?

I did mine last weekend and YES it was a *****... but you dont have to take out the radiator or the front bumper. You just need to be patient. Getting the two lower nuts and the rear bolt on the factory O2 housing was ver hard. You need reversable wrenchs or some swivels. It might be easier if you take out the radiator (so that you wont bang it up like I did mine)

Good luck with the install, If you were local I would come and help... but I'm in Northern VA

Your best bet is to take the turbo out. Takes maybe an hour to take the turbo out but it will save you a lot of time and headaches. Much easier to work with and allows you to really crank on the bolts/nuts that hold the O2 housing.

yeah i took the turbo out too...after like 20 mins trying to get the 2 bottom bolts on the o2 housing...its much easier to do the work after the turbo is out..and its not much to take the turbo out...oh and be careful w. the studs on the housing and the bolts...they seem to cross-thread easily...

Tell me about it... I have the top back bolt so cross threaded that the only way I could get the O2 housing to seal was to cut some washers stick them in the gap and try to turn the bolt just enough not to break it... finally worked but the O2 housing is forever stuck on the turbo now
