i was not attacking the STi. im with jude ...i just prefer the evo. i was just adding some input in regards to the rally argument.

id like to add that ...yes i do enjoy a good offroad action. we have ALOT of gravel roads around here and a few other enclosed roadways surrounded by tons of trees and ponds/lakes. i almost went swimming one day.

I think they are both great cars, BTW.

they are both great cars, to say one sucked would undermine the other and we owe a little to subaru because mitsu might never have brought the evo over seas if the wrx hadn't sold so well.

At least STi has the same wind tunnel tested body, and the same inverted strut design that has proved so versatile. (Winning the above C&D test, and a previous mid-corner bump test)
Proving that the STi is more true to rally heritage than the evo.
What are you talking about? Get your facts straight. The current WRC rally Evo have more common with the current production model than STI with the production STI.

It's in the testing phrase, that's why it's using the same diff, same engine, same shifter and transmission with very light mods.

the Evo doesn't even have center diff on wrc version.

STI has a different body kit that's wind tunnel tested and design for the rally racing. Just because it looks similar, that doesn't mean it's the same.

Who cares about car and driver? That's not even a magazine I would wipe my a ss with.

Look at Top Gear mag, read the comparison and see who won.

Riding this car and driver thing like there's no tomorrow.

I absolutely love the look of a badgeless STI from behind. Very sexy, but that's about it. Every other aspect, I personally prefer the EVO.

Guys EVO's own Sti's on any surface including the dirt and snow. Don't just take my word for it, remember the origional article with Rod Millen driving them back to back on a dirt loop. Everything about the EVO was better in the dirt and quite a lot quicker too. I can back that up with the driving I have done with both on all surfaces. BTW the reason the STi is faster in the decelerating slalom is because it has a lot of understeer (it helps there), we beat it in the accelerating slalom for the same reason (Sti's understeer).

There is no type of track (of surface) where an STi is faster...end of story. I'm all for giving credit where it's due, it's just that the Sti doesn’t deserve in it's current configuration...

I would agree that stock the STi handles better in the snow and dirt, but the evo still drive rediculously well on the snow with Blizzaks mounted. And when it comes down to it the evo and the STi are so similar it's a matter of preference. I chose the evo because I'm in love with it and it has that little sharp edge that the STi traded for comfort.

well it still deserves credit, but I and most of us would agree that the evo is just better overall...

I found the original article by C&D. They actually picked the Evo (Again). They just couldnt believe the STi was still losing to the Evo so they did a "upon further testing" piece.

This is the second test they did. They did everything they could in this test to make sure the STi would win including finding a track with more straigtaways and less corners and as someone mentioned, they did tests where the STi's understeer would actually be an advantage.

i think if anyone on this board, trolls excepted, liked the sti they would have bought one instead of an evo... i know they were the only two cars i was looking at... i just think the sti is too hi-profile with the ugly hood scoop and wing but that's just me... if we want to get in a pissing contest lets compare the cost/benefit ratio of modding either car and see who comes out on top
