Question confused!?!

i thought a stock evo ran a mid 13 sec 1/4 mile. motor trend's 03 time states 14.09 @ 94. my modded 03 ran 14.46 @ 95. here's an HKS EVO they tested. they also mention that a the hks evo is 280 whp (50 over stock). now i also thought that a stock evo pulls 197whp so how are they getting 230? my modded evo only pulled 225whp on dyno dynamics. here is the M/T link:

It's all relative. The Dyno, the driver, the conditions. Take magazine results with a grain of salt, and then go out on the track and prove them wrong.

guess i shouldn't believe what i read...

my luck they probably used c-16 to run mid 13's...

pretty expensive HKS swap though. i could make waay more power for less.

As much as you hear on this website that the stock EVO is a 13.5 second car, it isn't really. It's a low 14 second car when driven by 99% of people out there. You can even get a low 13 in perfect weather with a hard launch, etc. There are a couple claims of a high 12 stock, but that is hardly believable and if true, it happened when all variables were lined up perfectly and on a fast reading track. Not all dynos or 1/4 mile timers are created equally.

i guess this explains my theory. i'm figuring if a 200 hp (flywheel) car runs a solid 15 sec 1/4, then, 300hp should run 14, 400hp 13, 500hp 12secs, etc... i guess depending on the variables this can fluctuate. my 1st car (92 eclipse NA) modded ran a best of 16.20 @ 87mph with 150 hp. my stock 98 talon TSI i had ran a best of 15.29 @ 91 (210hp).

i guess if i line up next to a mean sounding vette or viper & spank them, i'm doing good...
