Is it possible to steal an Evo?
Unless I'm mistaken, all Evo's come standard with an anti-theft immobilizer device. That being said, how can one steal an Evo (short of towing it away)? My Eclipse has the same device, as do a lot of cars nowadays. Are they easy to circumvent? The only reason I ask is because someone posted a thread a couple of days ago after having stopped a couple of guys trying to burglarize his car. He mentioned that a police officer told him that "these cars" are stolen all the time.
oh i am sure there is a way for someone to steal it, but we havne't heard of any stolen evos on here ( atleast i haven't )... but the technology is out there, so its not IMPOSSIBLE for it to happen...
any car can be stolen by the rite thief... i havent heard of any evos being stolen besides the one posted the other day. i heard of 2 being stolen last year at raceway park but i think that was just a bs story someone made up due to the person i heard it from being the type to tell white lies...
this is one of the reasons i might trade in my 03 wrx for an evo. the wrx is such a high theft target it's rediculous.
any car is possible to be stolen, the question is, how long does it take to circumvent the system is sometimes the deciding factor. by running a few searches in the northeast i've only seen 3 incidents of stolen cars. two were from dealers and i think the other was towed. much better than the >100 in the tri-state forum alone on nasioc

it's quite simple, if you think about it. you could steal any car with immobilizer without modifying the ecu, which is another way to steal one, but it's pain in the ***.
actually, now i think about it, there are 2 ways of going about that.

you could always tow it, that's probably the only way to go about.
the other method, i wont say online. it's rather complicated.

you could always take the lojac out.
Lojack is just a locator , not an alarm ! You have to know its stolen , before you can get it located and if it was stolen when you went some where and came back 5 hrs later. I could possibly be anywhere
