clutch chatter?

Well I noticed today that when my foot is off the clutch that there is a chattering sound Throw out bearing? Mitsu said that most of the evos out there have the chattering and its nothing. I know that when some people install aftermarket clutches that they get a slight chattering. none the less i am just curious if anyone hears noise when their foot is off the clutch. when i press the clutch in the chattering goes away.

If you're talking about the chatter when you let off the gas with the clutch out then you're talking about the deceleration noise that has been covered widely on here. If it chatters when you apply gas then no, that's not normal.

I get slight chattering with ACT, but it's gone away. It only does it below 2000rpm.

If you have stock clutch, it shouldn't chatter, unless it's going.

dealers are bsing you, i think. When my clutch was slipping, it still wouldn't chatter. wouldn't chatter when it was cold either.

I hear the same thing too on my last MR and now this one. It is normal don't worry about it. It is your throwout bearing and as you break the car in, you will hear it. Again it is not a problem and only happen when your foot is off the clutch at a stop.

Yeah, that's almost definitely your TOB then. Mine never chattered with the stock clutch but it does from time to time with the ACT. I've not seen any other posts complaining about TOB noise on the stock clutch either (I don't read every post though) so I would say it's not normal either.

Two MRs same noise and I have not beatup on the clutch. the last MR made the same noise and I had until 7k miles. It may only happen on all 05s.

It happens quite often and most of the time when I back out of a parking space, it feels like the whole tranny is about to shake off of the car. When that happens, I ususally just push the clutch back in and give it more gas.

Mines does that. I do the same thing. Once the clutch warms up though, it goes away. It's been like that for pretty much since I got it in April 03.

if u burn your clutch you can ask them to replace the throwout under warranty so you'd receive free labor on the clutch install (about a grand for labor otherwise), but it has to be within the first 12 months or 12,000 miles.
