Won't stop in snow
I would hope the creator of the post being from PA would have at least snow tires.
I noitced also too being in Michigan after the recent foot of snow we got in the past day that my car is having braking issues. It seems like the stock Enkei's let too much snow in so it "washes" the brake pads out so it is almost like trying to stop in a huge puddle of water. I think the only good solutions are too downshift and brake very early. At first I thought I needed brake pads but after closer inspection it looks like they have enough for 5-8k or so or close to 30k if I get lucky.
Check out the picture to see what I mean...

I had braking issues after driving in deep snow as well. Had to get out of my car once I got to a street thats clear and clean off some of the snow stuffed in my wheel. Then I just trailbraked a bit and all was fine.

I noticed the same problem. I have Conti ExtreamContact all seasons on a set of stock wheels and i can't stop for crap, turning isn't fun either! Its got to be either the tires or the fact that the snow gets packed into the wheels like mentioned above. I'm going to try to make these tires last till spring then next season get a set of dedicated snow tires.

we're having some serious blizzard in Boston, last night I took my Evo out during the storm, no problems, someplace have 1 and half feet of snow and some place had 2 feet, never got stock.........
I have Toyo T1-S's on my ride and I was miserable yesterday. I had to run out with about 4 inches on the ground and was forced to go no more than 35mph the whole way. Oh well it will melt soon and I can go out and have fun again

i have a 03 oz rally. when i first tried driving in the snow it was miserable. i got some snow tires and now its not that bad, jsut as long as i keep it under 30mph when its thick. snow tires make a world of difference.
its hard to believe you awd drive guys have a hard time getting around

Ok so i don't look like a idiot i don't have the advans, I have all seasons. And as long as i trailbrake like the guys said it will stop but my father in law with a Newer malibu can stop in like half the distance that i can. Just wondering if its the car that is too light, it has too much brake or something... Just didn't want you guys to think that i am posting this, Still thinking that I had my original set of advans on it. They wore out at like 15 k.... I have now got 33k.
Don't forget that the EVO has a very stiff suspension from the factory. This will tend to load the tires faster than a softer suspension (we're talking weight transfer here). When it loads too much and too fast you can/will exceed the overall traction available from the tires. This will result in more sliding and longer braking distances. Same thing applies for the brakes. There is lots of braking force available and I don't think it would be to tough to lock up any of the wheels. Ever notice the different brakes run on WRC cars for varying surfaces they run on?
Just a thought.
Just a thought.
I went back out again this morning to run some errands, braking seemed better when i just pressed the pedal 1-2" at the most. Anything more then that and the brakes would bite too much causing the ABS to kick on.
