Help Me....Im addicted....
As for beating the Cobra i would say yes, but really it going to cost alot to get it where u cant mod it anymore, but u dont have to mod it that much. Think about it the car stock can take on most cars already. The only ones ur competing against are people with either high end cars or moded cars. As for high end u can beat some but not all, unfortuniatly its hard for a 4 banger to beat a V10; as for the moded cars there really arent alot of people who have the money to really mod their cars so there are few. Honestly i think that if u get ur car to about 340-350 whp u will be very happy and u can do that for about 4-6k, which isn't too bad. So i guess the real question is can u affored to really mod ur car and is really worth it to YOU to have something like 350whp. Me personalty I'm doing it, but hey its my hobby/passion.

For the evo to walk by "bus-lenghts" a heavily-modded cobra... that must have been one kick@ss evo... the only cobras and Ws6's I've lost to have been heavily modded - or maybe I just got a weak stock evo... but man, those guys will kill a stock EVO from a roll... all (4) of them were boosting, I've never run a NA V-8 that I didn't beat or at least hang with... but before you get too cocky with your mods... think about the fact that... they have them, too.
Also - unless you have a Lingenfelter vette, or a lambo, or maybe a McClaren F1 - somebody is out there (on the street - or on the track) who can beat you.

What will kill your drive more is getting in a wreck...like me! True story, my aftermarket floormat shifted as I was turning out of an icey driveway onto a highway, causing my accelerator to jam to the floor and my car to crank hard and spin. I was already slipping on the ice, and the floormat didn't help. Before I knew what was happening, I was already in the spin and it was too late. I got hit by another car. She shouldn't have been in the oncoming lane...Right? The good news, I'm using the insurance money to buy a wicked new body kit and hood. Wow...I guess I didn't learn much at all.
Oh well.
Yeah...I'm a Dumb*$$!
The madness never stops, so go with it!

Are there any support groups for this habit? Is it all worthwhile when you see the look on the Cobra drivers face?
