ok got a couple questions iv been searching for the past few hours got a few answers but tryn to figure out what to do.

couple nights ago i got a SES light i had a shop pull the code off for me it came to be the sensor in the power steering pump p0551 was the code.

at low rpms like turning into a parking spot bout 1k rpm and less the power steering stops working

( for me to figure that out i had tryed many differnt ways was driveing up the road verry slowly and swearving back n forth ) finaly when it hit 1k rpm or less it was back to manuel steering

any way could a bad sensor make the power steering do that like shut off?

i also noticed after driveing a little harder that the power steering fluid looked kinda rusty in the resivwar after it cooled down it became more transparent? that normal?

also the car should still be under warrnty for this under mitsu im just really not wanting to take it back to them how much would a new sensor / power steering pump be if they are actually bad?

and since i had the code cleared iv gone about 60 miles or so and it has not reapeared but it still does the hard steering at random

 

had my car at the dealer**** this morning and my oil changed and had them look at the power steering pump they said it was fulty and hopefully theyll have a nother one for me on monday ill keep you all posted.
