Various ways to get your Evo off the line

Hi guys. I have searched the forums, and found heaps of threads about how to launch the Evos hard drag style, i.e. dial up 5-6G, and slip the clutch a tiny bit, then dump it, and try have the revs on the up swing, to generate more boost. Or something very similar to this effect.
Thats cool, (I havn't had the heart to try it yet though, I'm scared for my clutch!!) but is there another way to launch the car not quite so hard? If I want to get a bit of pace say at lights or something, but I don't want to do a full screaming drag launch (not a good look on the street ), is there a better way than just easing the clutch and waiting for the turbo to spool up?
Some people have told me its pretty much all or nothing, but that was a driter forum :P Any one here got any ideas?

Rev to 3-3.5, slowly release clutch until it starts to "bite." Punch the throttle and at the same time slowly release the clutch all the way out. It takes practice but it works and it not supossed to be detrimental to the clutch OR the driveline. Plus, you will leave V8's in the dust!!! Good luck.

I had to practice a few times before I got good at lanching w/o burning up the clutch. Just try the slip/dump technique at lower rpms until you get a good feel for letting out the clutch and adding gas at the same time.

i have found the best/non clutch burning technique as a 3-4k quick slip, puts you right into full boost so make sure nothing is ahead of you. First gear will fly by.
