if u wanted a softer suspension but i totally understand where you're coming
from. i drive through NYC Local all the time and the roads are really fockin nasty.
and yes, it's absolutely great in highways but it's really sucks trying to pass by
huge fockin potholes every block. i wouldnt mind giving up some handling for
a softer ride. i mean the evo is not only about handling and not everyone does 90
degree turn doing 80+ mph anywayz. let me know if you find something

I want to figure out how to improve the ride of my Evo as well. I knew it was stiff when I bought it so I'm not surprised, but I honestly think Mitsubishi missed the mark on their suspension setup and that a bit more compliance would improve ride *and* handling, at least over rough pavement.
There are a lot of guys that believe that stiffer is always better. Maybe on a smooth racetrack, but on real World roads, I do not think that's true.
I also have a 99 Viper GTS an an 01 Z06 and both of those cars ride better then the Evo. I have thought about the Bilstein shocks as well, but have not decided what to do.

I would just hold out until the tires wear out @ 10-20K. The Advant's have stiff track ready side wall construction.
My guess is that pretty much any other high performance tires will stick a little less but ride much better.

The problem is taht if you go with a softer suspension for comfort, the vehicles handling will worsen. I would say look into the Bilstein setup because it seems to be a nice compromise.
check out tanabe sustec pro ss or sustec pro soc , very good coil overs for decent prices

I have driven in a 328,m3,m5 and 540 that are slammed and handle great and they still have a smooth ride, so i'm sure it can happen with the evo. I would love to get more info on the whitelines.
i've heard nothing but good with the whites...
also, look into Ohlins, and of course, the MR's bils...
one aspect to look at that you can't really help, there's for example 200 additional welds around the door frames... that's just one example of why the car rides the way it does... the chassis is f'n tight... different tires and suspension is kind of a band-aid if you will... but, could give you the slight ride diff you need to be "compliant" to your needs...

easiest way to get it softer is to get the 245/45/17 tires onto you stock wheels...the harshness that comes from the Advans will be almost gone with new, bigger tires with softer sidewalls...All for less than $1500.

Larger tires should have a little more stick, maybe enough to compensate for the slightly less sticky compound. And the side walls will flex a little more for a little more compliant ride.
My guess is that I’ll need to replace my tires this year. We'll see how it goes.
