So limited in numbers.

So far here is what I figured out, Mitsubishi said about 5000-6000 Evo's will be made in the first year. Thier are 12 months in a year. 50 States in the US. Of course not every dealership will get the same amount of cars but if they did this is what would happen. Lets say 6000 cars are sent to US in the first year evenly. That means 500 cars per month. Lets say every state recieved the same amount of cars. Thats 10 cars per month per state. I know of at least over 10 major Mitsubishi dealerships alone in california. That means 1 to none evos per dealership if its spreaded evenly. Sure is going to be a heavy supply and demand for these cars so its going to be a ***** to fight for a good price (realistic price). Hopefully since californina is a major state a good allocation of them will be brought here. Now I just want to see what my connection can do to help me. No real meaning to this post, just wanted to run number through your head, because most dealerships are going to know that they won't have to bargain because they know the next person will buy for the higher price.

I posted earlier about the allocation list I peeped at my local dealer, but someone erased it....
I only took note of the dealerships getting decent numbers of them....Tustin was getting 12 or so initially. That's prob your best bet...
BTW the dude I peeped off of got pissed at me for trying to get a look....come on...we all know they are coming, don't be a dick!!!

Yeah, CA may have 20 Mitsu dealerships.....but you have to remember that the Midle portion of this country isn't nearly as populated as CA....so there may only be 2 Dealership in South Dakota, and similarly low numbers in other states with little population.

Ya for sure. I know Cali should get a stronger amount than Mississippi (my bad to anyone there, only place i could think of that would get much). I am just hoping that its not like hell to get one. I remember I was the first person in Thousand Oaks area that pulled out with the first lancer off the 18wheeler. Hopefully I can pull it again, with 271 hp backing me up.

Re: So limited in numbers.

I believe at LA Pierre said there would be about 4600 cars this year. Divided among some 600 dealers, not all of whom will get the same number of cars - and some of whom will not get ANY cars. So say 500 stores get to divide up 4600 cars, that's an average of less than 10 per store. Only that doesn't work because some stores get 1 or 2 while others will get a dozen or more.

I've been talking to the dealer near me and they are supposed to get upwards of 8-15 cars in March.

Evolution allocation was dependant on sales of the normal Lancer. If a dealer sold a TON of Lancers, they'll get an above average allotment of Evo's. If they sold crap Lancers, they get crap for Evo's.

Lancer sales wasn't really as big a deal as Mitsu originally made it out to be. Evolution allocation in the end comes down to CSI ratings.

That's what I understood based on information from a friend of my who owns two dealerships. CSI was the most important factor.

The EVO is not a limited production car. He said Mitsu EXPECTS to sell 4000-5000. They will fill every order they get. There is no reason not to. Its obvious mitsu has a long term plan. With their marketing and the connection with FATF2 they are going after the "young" market. I am sure the cars they start rolling out in the next few years will mature into nicer cars as their customers do and start making more money. Same thing with Honda/Acura. The Civic started as a little dinky car and is now a really nice car for the money. I would bet that most of the original Acura owners once owned a honda so they knew that it was a good product but they wanted something more classy than a Honda.

My uncle who owns a mitsubishi dealership in New York is getting 13 Evo VIII's in about 3 weeks. They can start selling them in March. The first US promotion is supposed to be a long superbowl commercial for a lot of mitsubishi's 03 models and the new lancer will be flashed in and out. He said these things can beat NA porches out of the dealership and not to worry about 5 - under 0-60 times.

Mitsubishi gives all correct FBHP because of a lawsuit several years ago involving some Japanese laws or something. Most car companies markup their BHP projections by 10-15% but Mitsubishi can't because of the suit. This is why about two years ago when the Evo VII was supposed to come out, they said they would give us a 280 HP car, and the Evo VIII it is 271... which is pretty damned close.
