Ok i have a 03 mitsu evo, i am sick of this pos and wanna start over with a new 05.
I have plenty of mods, but im going to take all the mods out and try to bring it as close to stock aspossible. only things left will be the ACT clutch,and stuff i cant really take out.
it has 40k miles (yea too much traveling) and a howling TC
Im in the market for a bone stock or slightly used car from the dealership. MR, GSR only. I owe about 26k on the car. Credit score is in the high 700s. and if they decide to take it, could i just use my car as a down payment and how much u think they'll give me for it

you will not get anything close to what you owe on it... I'm gussing around $18-$22K trade in... I would try to sell it privtely if I were you.
sorry man , i know that sucks, but thats just how it works. I work for a dealership and with those miles and any signs of modifications they will throw you a huge lowball offer

I don't understand why you are getting rid of your 03'. What makes it a POS? I mean if you think the 03' is a POS then I don't see what is going to make an 05' that much better. The cars are not DRASTICALLY different (right?)
The TC is the same for all years as far as I know. Only slight mods to the clutch cable and gearing has been changed for the MR's six speed. So, chances are the same POS TC is going to plague your new 05' EVO!
Besides, it seams like you put a lot of time into this one. Why not make it work? Plus like Evo MR says, they will rape you as soon as you walk through the doors of a dealership. Not worth it IMHO.

i got it used and its been crappy ever since. (Dont ask why, long story..) car came with howling TC, owner didnt know CRAP about the car except 91octane gas n turbo timing(for like 5min!), he wrecked the front bumper twice(just bumper though), got the IC painted black then back to silver, threw away his stock parts which i wanted especially the stock hood n bov, he bought it for 44k out the door. He basically gave me the car and said take over payments so i did. so I owe about 26k on it now. i only paid off about 3k so far.
I want the MR cuz its got the highway gear and i want the wheels so i dont have to buy aftermarket wheels like this car has. oh yea the car also came with slipping clutch. he changed oil like once every 15k miles or so? The cars still running strong besides the TC issue and hits full boost and no knocking or anything. no CELs except the test pipe but i did the o2 fix and its still fast, but who knows what else he did. I take care of my cars like theyre my children. And looks like he did a good number on this one. I want a fresh start so i can "nurture" my evo off the lot

if u guys are saying they'll still give me around 20, i will take it. Cuz i didnt forfit any money on this car except like 4-6 months of payments. about 3k and mods, but the mods will be coming off the car. if i turn in 20k, ill owe about what...15k on a MR? Thats better cuz think about it...i owe 26k on a 03 or get a MR and owe 14-16k? Better deal to me and better car and brand new
I dont think you understand how it works... with all the problems you just discribed that a very easy to spot you will be lucky to get $15K for your trade in that means you still owe $11K on it then buying a MR lets just say you get it out the door for $35K (which you probally wont be able to) you have to add the $11K negative from the 03 which brings the grand total to $46K for a MR.
I say put a little money into the 03 (new TC and new clutch and new bumper and you will be happy with it

hmm ditch that idea....i already bought a new clutch. its got about 2000 miles on it. Its the ACT Heavy duty street setup. i love it. Front end has been replaced for awhile now, he replaced it after he tried to "drift" on street corners and tapped a car. i didnt know he did til he told me. the front end was replaced n painted by mitsu, in the process he dented his enkeis so he got some new wheels with crappy tires. As for the TC, i dont know how that happened. I saw him race once. he quick slipped the clutch at 7000rpm. that was months prior to the howling so that might've caused it. I also heard its a mitsu defect anyways. he had a recall on it but he never went like a dumb fool he is. The owner was such a dumb nut. he learned to drive stick on his evo too, he ran high 16s at palmdale. I almost ****ted myself when his friend told me that.
