Anyone else use the STi to get the Evo price down?

Buy minimal used, buying a car new is the dumbest money move in all the world. No where else do you lose thousands of dollars within 5 seconds (when you drive it off the lot)

i used the evo price to haggle on the sti a little bit. my local suby dealer had an STI for 44k with markup. i pulled in told him i had an appointment later that day to buy an evo (which i had already driven) and started barganing. in the end i am happy with the evo, but at the time i was somewhat undecided as to which to get. anyway good luck.

This is how I did it. I took two friends with me to the dealership in another town (I used to live there and was visiting), and the entire time I acted undecided on the Evo, and my friends kept telling me to test drive the STi before buying the Evo. The dealership knew I had not driven the STi, and was going home that night. I told the dealership that I was either taking my RSX, the Evo, or the STi home that night.
During the entire time my friends kept telling me not to make mistake and buy the Evo before driving the STi. They also told me to take a few days to think about it.
They were not annoying, they just tried to look like concerned friends that did not want to see a buddy make a mistake.
Also, since I was acting undecided, I made it look like I was going to walk out during the finance part, and got them to below 5% finance.
It worked very well, my friends and I should have gotten Oscars for that day.

That's a good idea. My friend actually owns an STi right now. Maybe I can convince him to go with me and go for a ride in an Evo and have him keep telling me 'how much better his STi' is and how I should go get an STi insted and so forth. That may work.
