I just noticed that the '05 wicked white is piant code #W37, and the '03 Weightless White is #W83. Are the paint tones any different? Anyone out there with an '05 WW please check the paint code. Im curious to know if there is actually a difference in shades. Thanks.

 

My MY2005 GSR needed some touch up paint. After running the VIN through the computer, the paint that was orded for my EVO ended up being called IGLOO WHITE on the paint stick. Go figure...

Where can i buy touch up paint beside from the dealer?

 

Paint codes are different so the colors are going to be different. Some times they
change the names but code stays the same. Some stay the same for years.
Some parts store like auto zone,pep boys and walmarts also carry touch up
paint. If you are that interested in the differences between the two whites
I can look up the formulas tomorrow

Sometimes different models in the same line have different names for the same color.
That is why you always go for the color code number and not the name.

 

well the evo and lancer share the same black (x42) but are called different names, tarmac black(x42) and labrador Black(x42)

but to answert he question, from what i have read, sorry dont rememebr where, the the 05's did have a new color white and it wasnt the same as the 03-04

 

Yes, the whites are different. Looking at them beside each other, 03-04 is yellowish-white, and 05 is bluish-white, IIRC.

 

oh , i was just referring to evos and not the other models


so if an evo has a different name of the same shade than its a different color...

 

Reading the formulas today the new white only had trace black and olive w37 .
The old white w83 had trace black ,olive, trace yellow ,red ,blue . Most of these
color cancel each other out so the only real difference is the yellow.

My wicked white has the paint code W83F

 

My 2005 wicked white evo is paint code W37.

The code is located on a small metal plate attached to the top of the firewall in the engine compartment

 

I think the paint changes names from country to country also....I guess some names would sound weird in the UK vs. USA vs. Singapore etc. I would venture a guess that each model year the 'red' or 'white' is the same globally though, it would be silly and expensive to offer 4 different whites each year depending on location.

 

03 / 04 are weightless white
05 and ?06? wicked white
2 different shades of white

the weightless has a more cream tone to it. but its hard to tell the difference
