NGK BPR7ES pregapped?
NGK BPR7ES pregapped?
Are the stock NGK plugs pre-gapped? i ordered some off lancershop and need to know if theyre pre-gapped or not or if i even need to gap em to .28. Thanks
yes.. their gapped at .026 (which is actually a decent gap for a stock ignition system on a 1 step colder plug) HOWEVER you should check them before you install them because their not always perfect..

A little off topic but still pertains to the basic subject, 3 of 4 my BPR8ES's were all perfectly pregapped at .028 and the other one at .029 the other day. In no way do I suggest relying on a plug being pregapped though, always check them!

That is correct.. However that is assuming stock plug heat range. If your running aftermarket coils and ignition system, you can gap as large as .031, but with colder than stock plugs, I Recommend .026 otherwise you will get misfire at idle
the larger gap will help ignite the mixture better at high RPM, however you would need to improve the ignition system slightly. Even with 21psi through redline, I find I get consistent misfires with a stock ignition system and colder plugs gapped to the stock size.
FWIW I have a set of stock lancer coils, and Evo coils, sitting side by side, they are IDENTICAL except for the plug boots.. That means that the stock coils aren't designed for high performance applications and you should take that into account.
