Okay, so then the reason that people who could afford the aforementioned cars buy an Evo is because...? If I had to guess, it's apparent that owning an Evo is not just about top end speed or raw power. I don't own one yet, so is it that it offers the best "total package value" (price, handling, novelty, etc.)? How many Evo owners would buy any of the "faster" cars if they could afford it?

I'd buy an E55 in a second.

thats a tough question. i looked at the new S4 pretty seriously before the evo. sure i could probably afford it, but could i justify it when i could save 20k for a car that is more fun to drive. i ended up with the evo.

Thats funny couse all the cars that people mention are either a 6 cylinder and higher or got like a 4 Liter engines or more LMAO People ya keep on forgeting that 2.0 is not ment for UP TOP performance if your looking for top speed look at ANY and i mean ANY performance GERMAN CAR even and AUDI S4 would probably Beat the evo by the 1/2 mile MARK and i dont want to think about top speed and reliability..

Math Geek..Stock, the Evo is detunned. Those other cars are not. consider how well our little ittbitty two liter, four door sedan does with its fangs out and claws sharpened before you decide what an Evo is all about.

BTW Kuba you would faint at what my sons MBs cost to maintain.

I did not know that. I'm not questioning the performance of the Evo, which I know to be an amazing vehicle for its price. I quess I was trying indirectly to find out which cars were objectively better performers. Maybe I should have asked what the Evo has that all of the others mentioned don't have. The enjoyment quotient (handling and acceleration) and price seem to be the main things that people are impressed by. I certainly know that there are plenty of cars with a higher top speed.

i was thinking of getting a used M3, like '99-'01 or something, but the maintenance for a used bimmer is insane. evo imo has the best price/acceleration/handling/looks/history value for $30gs. for example, u could get srt4 for $21gs, which is "m4d f4St tUnAh" car, it's cheaper than evo, but it doesn't have other variables, although it's still good price/straightline performance value.

when i speak of history value, i'm talking about evo's rally heritage. lots of ppl who buy it dunno about its history or don't care, but those who kept up with WRC at some point, value this car. it's kinda like the new rustang. it's an automotive american icon, so ppl buy it. same with the mini, it's a classic british car reborn. for $30g i could've bought something that had more luxury and "class", but i'm not a yuppie and don't care about "class" or lux image. not to mention that a $30g lux car wouldn't have same performance.

i hope that u can understand, that to most evo owners (or is it pWn3rZ? hehe) this car is really something special and although some stubborn evo drivers think it's the fastest thing on the streets, it's not, but we love it just the same.

to add to list of cars that can beat evo...uhhh...civic with nAAwwwzzz, cause it's stupid fast! or just plain stupid?

One thing is for sure: Z 350, RX 8 or WRX Sti won't beat evo. Check attachments, they are in finnish but I think you get the point Three days of track testing and the winner is...
