If you are patient you can find many things used.

I purchased a full Signature Exhaust and test pipe for $750.
I then added an Xede for $650.

Just a thought.

use it on a track day and gas.

trust me, you'll blow through $800 without even buying a pair of brake pads and certainly not tires.

i'm a total newb to cars and would like some professionals to do it instead of me doing it....
how much usually cost per hour if we hire ppl to install the parts for us

Wow, this DennisMurphy has sure added some good comments today. Very informative and cerebral.
Back on topic now. I think the general census you will get, and what I will add, is the best route to take (IMO). Basically follow Buschur Racing' s (or anyone else's, just used Buschur's as an example) with their parts or whatever it is you prefer. I personally went first for a TBE from Perrin/Helix. Then I purchased a K&N panel filter. Next is MBC, fuel pump, MR diverter valve, and some custom tuning. Oh and 300WHP. That should bring you up to ~$1500 depending on what you buy.

Really depends on what you want to do. Are you just modifying for sport, or for speed... or just to spend money on the car. Keep in mind, with more power and mods comes the greater possibility of breaking something, wearing parts out faster (clutch/brakes) etc. If you start adding all this horsepower and running around launching, etc, and you blow your clutch... you are looking at $500 just for the parts, not including labor. Keep things like that in mind.

TBE seems to be one of the most common upgrades to begin with. Shortly following that is your typical boost controller, fuel pump, air filter/ air intake system and then reflash. The flash really should be one of the last things you do, to have it take advantage of all the other mods you are planning on doing. Otherwise, you will need to reflash whenever you change a major component. (Most cases.) Also don't forget you need to have the proper hardware for monitoring your changes you are making. Boost gauge is in my mind a requirement when adding a boost controller... and an EGT gauge is usually good to add as well. Protect your investment!

If you are looking to pay retail, a few vendors on the forums are having pretty good specials right now. 500whp.com has the 255 Walbro fuel pump for $85 shipped. RnR Racing has their new V2 TBE which was just released, although the special is over their pricing is still pretty good. (Was $599 for the TBE). Gruppe-S is running a special on the Helix TBE as well, I believe $699 shipped. Dynoflash has the Hallman MBC running special for $86.99.

Like others have said as well, keep an eye on the classifieds. Although I'll be honest I look around them all day, and if you are not on the board when something good (and well priced) is posted, you are screwed. Good luck bro..

If you must spend it now, go with a good TBE, then save for engine management and fuel pump, if you want more after that then cams.
