racing harness
well i disagree with the shoulder harnesses doing nothing but protecting in an accedent because my harnesses keeps my back from moving back and forth under large loads while turning. obviously it can't do it by itself, the seat bolsters work in conjunction with the shoulder straps to keep me in place. without the shoulder straps my upper body would certainly move back and forth (and it did when i had nothing but the factory belts on my porsche). this movement did cause invouluntary movements to keep me supported while turning hard on the track and in autocrossing.
i will most certainly take you up on that offer to test out your CG lock thing though, because i have never tried it, and as a person who wants nothing but scientific data back up my claims, i should prolly get some scientific data to back up my claims or disprove my claims. fortunately i have a track day coming up in three weeks and i can give it a good run through then. i also have autocrosses lined up almost weekly for as long as i can afford tires.
as an engineer i can promise an unbiased test with all three (Stock belt, stock with CGlock, and then 5 points). i will try to make a jig for a camera to record body movement with a video camera or something... we'll see. PM is on it's way tonight if i have time, or tomorrow.
