Vent to atmosphere simply means that the BOV is not recirculated back into the compressor inlet pipe. Most BOVs can be VTA or recirculated, depending on if it was made to or if it has adapters for it or not. You might also hear the term "recirculating" valve. That's basically a "BOV", but is normally preset with one spring, non-adjustable and should not be "VTA". Hope this helps a little.

WTF is that. is this really what our cars have come to? my car is in no way "RICE" so he wasnt being sarcastic, he really thought that i needed to have a VTA BOV to make my huevos look bigger or something. i wanted to beat all three of them back into the 80's but i had to get back to work, and traffic was a biotch. seriously though, why would anyone say that? do i have less of a car because i dont VTA my blow off valve? is the car really not cool unless you do? did these guy learn everything they know (obviously a very limited amount) about cars from a video game, or a movie? what is the world coming too? anyway, sorry i had to vent, maybe i will see them later. this happened only 5 minutes ago. does this happen to anyone else?

ps- i am not trashing anyone with a VTA, i just dont have one. apperantely that makes my car less cool to high school dropout wannabe cracker thugs.
no offense or anything but how do you know they are stoners? ... or how do you know they are high school drop outs? the car does sound awsome with one on it... i mean the sound the blow off valve makes is awsome.

you bumped a thread that has been dead for two months to ask me that? they were stoners, i know, i used to be one. as for the dropout thing, yea it was a stretch but i am not to worried about making generalizations about it. maybe in your opinion the car sounds better with a VTA, but i dont think so. i find it kind of obnoxious, in a car that is obnoxious enough. (yes i love my evo, but i dont drive it to attract attention) i just dont see the point, except that they sound better/different. if i wanted my car to sound "awesome" i would definately get on though. thanks.

PS- how old are you? if i drove the evo at 18 i would have one, but i didnt, and i am not 18 anymore.

You Okay Man?

But anyways i had a VTA BOV (Turbo XS H-34) and it was fun and all until it pratically unscrewed itself and fell off when i was driving! HA! Now i'm back to recirc with a Greddy Type S which has a subtle sound. VTA's are best when you see old people walking on the sidewalk and then you pull a high RPM and shift out. haha, sorry i'm sucha nerd. Well i had my fun.
