yeah, if your getting 10mpg something is wrong. i got 300+ miles a tank when i was breaking mine in.

unless your definition of breaking in involves lots of track time and a majority of the engine time about 5000rpm...

Mine breaking in was really bad too... like ~12 mpg, and that's BOTH times I had to break it in... but we won't get into that... and as the miles rolled on, it got better and better, and now with my TBE it's even better... Your ECU is just probably one that's running extra rich, get a tune or an S-AFC

Highest I have ever got is about 240 miles on one tank....about 21 mpg? Most of the time I get 200miles flat. This is with a TBE and an upgraded intercooler. Still running rich

Take it to the dealer. 10MPG with break-in driving = problem.

There's always how long you let it idle in a million different places

How else would you "break in" an EVO??? 6 - 7 mpg on 100 octane at the racetrack sounds about right to me.

240miles one tank? i believe that's about 18MPG unless my math is really wrong here. Usually a refilled tank is about 13gallons so 240miles over 13 gallon is about 18miles per gallon.
I got about 270+ to 280+ which is about 22mpg

you're either calculating wrong or something is wrong with your car. i was getting over 300 miles per tank when i was breaking it in.

It might be something dumb like your fuel level sender not working right. Who knows, it could be A LOT of things.

As I recall however, I did get very bad mileage my first tank or two. After that, I was getting like 25 mpg on 93. Then i switched to sunoco 94 and I get like 20 mpg.

i'll burn another tank through it and see what it does.

last time i filled it up. 103miles and 9.43 gallons... so i guess 11mpg..not 10

my tank was down to half way- on the gauge- at like 50-60 something miles...
